I have only had this WD Elements Portable drive for about a week & a half. But, so far it works fine. I simply took it out of the box and connected it to my USB port and the drive was recognized by my computer. I am using this WD external drive for file backups. Over the following 5 days I proceeded to download about 2.5 TB of data from two external LaCie drives. All downloads were flawless. I should point out that I am connecting this WD drive to an 11-year old WIN7 computer that only has USB1 ports. The WD drive is USB3 compatible and has a USB3 cable. This all works fine with my old USB1 ports on my old desktop computer. So, perfect backwards compatibility from USB3 to USB1. In summary, the WD drive does everything that I expected it to do. So, I am very satisfied with the product. 5 |

I use this hard drive in an external Thermaltake USB3 dock for creating my offsite backups. The 4TB is perfect for my system configuration and the drive is fast and quiet. 5 |

I have few external 2.5 hard drives, but this one is the best. It's look and design is superb and the price is fair. It is not USB3 but it doesn't matter since my MacBook Pro is not USB3 compatible (so are other Macs), so why pay the extra money for something I do not need. Also I bought this hard drive to my Time Machine backups, so I don't need the fire-wire (extra money) hard drive. 5 |

I just added the WD 4TB Elements External Desktop Hard Disk Drive to my� back up solution (6 hard drives) and Windows 10.� I disconnected the power and USB cable from a full WD hard drive and replaced it with this new drive and fired it up. It works great, just like I would expect from Western Digital. 5 |

I am using this case to store my WD 2TB My Passport External Hard Drive. The cover is semi rigid which provides some protection against accidentally banging the hard drive, although I would not want to drop the hard drive. It also provides a separate area for storing the USB cable which comes with the hard dive. Very convenient. 5 |
