Whirlpool Range Surface Element Control Switch

Can't wait to get a control surface for it.

The S line is the best. It allows me to control the range of the focus wheel.

Good tonal range.... Don't like the occasional surface imperfections...

We use this in the classroom. The lustre surface works well across a range of subject matter.

I like that it includes a volume control, a power switch and audio control.

I've been using Element drives for years, and I don't see any reason to switch brands. They are not that big, they are pretty quiet, and reliable.

For the price (especially now), you can't do much better than this. Sharp, fast and silent focus, beautifully made, and close focusing, the lens works as a moderately wide portrait lens, a street photo prime, and a macro. This versatility is what adds to its value. Skip the useless hood--not much flare or ghosting, so no need. Use a filter though--the front element is not recessed and I do worry about dust breathing in through the front element. My only complaint is the narrow width of the focusing ring, which I like using for macro--it's also close to the control ring. I also wish they had been swapped--I can feel around for a focus ring at the end of the lens without removing my eye, but the placement forces me to look (although the different textures of the rings helps). and when using the control ring as an aperture ring it makes more sense to me to have it closer to the body (like many older lenses). In any case, this lens is sharp, contrasty, fast enough and very affordable. I would pick it over it's more expensive L sibling, in part because it's light and pairs well with smaller RF bodies.

Have only had it for a few days, but I love the power switch and volume control on the remote.
