Will 1080P Projector Screen Work With 4K Video

2024-09-05 09:32:54

I bought this projector to replace a 1080p Viewsonic projector that I own. Will be using it in the Hometheater room - dark and no light. This projector works really well in that space. I could test 4K videos using the Chromecast with Google TV and the video looks great. No stuttering or troubles displaying 4K. The colours are reproduced well and I'd say black levels are really good. I've tested HDR with the PS4 HDR capability and it looks great. I am waiting to use this with a PS5 - alas I have still not been able to get my hands on one.

Good quality cable for 1080p. Doesn't work for 4K.

I love it for photos enough that I'm still giving it 5 stars. For video, I'd give it 1 star. I bought this camera with the benefit of a doubt that I can use it for video on occasion. It was not worth the extra money. Being an owner of the GH5, I would never recommend this camera for someone looking to shoot a lot of 4K video or even 1080p video with it over something more dedicated. Canon Log, although 8-bit, is light years ahead of 10-bit V-Log L. You can really shoot with Canon Log all the time, and never have issues with pulling out good video footage. Try that with other log profiles and you're really asking for trouble. The biggest problem with 4K on the 5D4 is the rolling shutter. It's really bad. People's faces get wobbly for tight portrait shots. Couple that with the inability to handhold it because it lacks IBIS, you got a wobbly video camera with amazing Canon Log that only works in very select situations. The crop isn't too bad if you use zoom lenses, but if you use primes, it just doesn't make sense to bounce back from the crop factor. 1080p is very usable however put it side by side with the GH5's 1080p, it's a few generations behind in terms of quality. But if you don't do side-by-side comparisons, you'll be fine doing some occasional video work where there isn't so much movement and you need 2 stops of dynamic range.

Used with my Nikon photography cameras & lenses & my professional 4K & 1080P Panasonic video cameras. A great product to always have on hand!

Using this to decode an NDI source to a projector in Church services with live stream. We previously were sending the Presentation Laptops screen to the OBS computer via NDI, and used a separate proprietary wireless video feed to the main projector. Got this so we can use the same NDI source for both and eliminate the wireless projector feed. It is working well. One thing to be aware of: the projector will display will go blank in a couple of seconds if there is no video and audio activity when using NDI Screen Capture as the source. This can be an issue during power points with static screens. You can set the decoder to keep the last thing displayed on the screen or allow it to go blank. I prefer it to go blank so I know something is wrong right away. You can also resolve by making sure the NDI Screen Capture is using an active audio source (like the microphone). This decoder has been reliable and is reasonably priced. Perhaps other decoders won't have the inactivity issue but they are also more expensive. This has not been a show stopper for us.

It's not designed for the purpose, but I use this on video gigs as a client monitor or for checking focus. While it completely lacks video-centric features like LUTs, meters, or freeze, it is easy to set up on a stand with the 1/4 screw mount and is simple to power off a USB-C battery pack (I use a smallrig VB50 or VB99 to power this and several other things at once, will run for over a day). Comparable monitors that are designed for video cost thousands of dollars with thickness measured in inches, which I'm not about to spend or haul to a gig since clients probably couldn't tell the difference anyway. This screen is super thin and lightweight, so it costs almost nothing capacity-wise to bring (slips into a typical laptop pocket in a backpack). I'm sure if you're a travelling businessperson or even video editor/creative this would be a perfect addition to your laptop. The colors are particularly good, comparable to the OLED I edit on, which is what I wanted. A personal factory calibration slip is included, which actually noticeably exceeded the spec'd delta-E for my screen. Obviously with OLED do not expect it to work well in sunlight or bright environments as it is relatively dim, this is for indoor or dimly-lit environments only. I was particularly impressed with the folding flap/stand, which is attached not with adhesives, but simple magnets, so it is easy to remove completely or add it on for protection. I guess my only complaints would be the use of mini-HDMI instead of full HDMI (understandable, but mildly annoying- make sure you buy the right cable if you need to use HDMI in), and the 1080p resolution. While 1080p is totally fine for a 13 screen, I'd love to see a 4K version as that would make an ideal monitor for checking focus. That would put pixel density on-par with 7 1080p screens.

This projector is commonly used for golf simulators and I purchased it primarily for that purpose and for home theater use for the kids. It is working great so far. I am using it on a roughly 196 diagonal screen which is outside the recommended max size but the picture and brightness are still very adequate. Really happy with it so far and think it was the right move from a value standpoint over 4k for our use. We may still upgrade to 4k in future, but very happy with this for now. It is ceiling mounted about 10 feet from the screen. love the zoom option for ease of setup.

Let me start by saying I was skeptical to go with this projector because I didn't think it would blow me away at this price, and I have a great VAVA 4K ultra short throw projector (which I'm selling now). This was the best move I ever made! Now that I have this new projector with zoom, pan and tilt adjustment knobs, I will never get a projector again without these features! Because of this flexibility, I'm able to achieve 165 screen in my living room at just about 14.75 feet! Insane! In order to get 150 screen from the VAVA, it has to sit too far from the screen and then it's sitting in the middle of the room. (I dont recommend an ultra short throw unless you have 14ft ceilings or higher because it's the only way to get a huge screen while having it sit not too far from the screen/wall. With the images size I'm getting now, it's like I have an IMAX screen in my living room. Picture is amazing! Looks like real 4K even though this scales 1080p to 4K like most projectors under a certain price (the VAVA scaled to 4K too and it cost nearly $3k). I can't tell the difference! Very sharp. Great color. Great black levels. You just can't beat this quality at this price! No way! Look really pro. The remote is really cool too. The keys light up when you press them which is very helpful at night. Came with batteries too. When you turn off this unit, it automatically covers the lens which is so cool! BUY IT!!! I highly recommend it! But do your research first and read everything about to make sure it's for you. This thing is just sexy! Not heavy either. The body looks like a $20,000 Sony projector. I'm in love! (I'll try to get pictures up in the near future. Too busy right now.)

Good picture. Easy to set up. Work very good with Sony 4K projector.
