Wind Chaser Instrument

I must admit, the first time I unboxed the instrument, I was amazed at the build quality. It has some heft, the keys are properly and ergonomically placed and you know Akai really took their time to perfect this wind controller. But as a long time saxophone player, the first time I actually played some scales, I was quite disappointed - it didn't feel like a saxophone. I was beginning to regret my purchase and thought about exchanging it for the WX5. So I gave it a few more days. Days turned to weeks, and I am beginning to appreciate this instrument. Keep practicing those scales, breathing with the mouthpiece and you realize how this is such an amazing wind controller. I made a mistake thinking that this is a replacement for a saxophone in an apartment situation. In reality, you should think about how this instrument can be an extension to your musical endeavors. The possibilities you can do with the sounds and playability are endless. There are a few usable synths prebuilt, but I suggest using the Akai EWI 5000 Editor to really play and edit your sounds then save it to the user bank. Also there are synths out there that can be used if you plug the EWI as just a midi wind controller; unfortunately you can't upload other synth sounds into the controller. Definitely give it some time to get used to the instrument especially moving from one octave to another. Keep practicing and you'll appreciate that there's hardly any moving parts here. I was opposed at it first since horns have that tactile and key feedback. But with the touch sensitivity, it really felt I was playing an instrument from the future. Again, you just have to get used to it - think about when mobile phones shift from physical keyboards to the modern phones we have today. And here I am today still keeping my purchase and writing a review. I thank Akai for making a top-notch wind controller and continuing the support for the modern electronic wind musician. 5 |

I have been a pixel chaser for a long time. Always looking at every photo I took at 100%. I will tell you this lens is very sharp. Remember it's a long lens even on an FX camera. Don't let the sub price fool you. This is a lens worthy of pro status! Don't pass it up because it doesn't cost $1,400 plus. 5 |

I was going to make one but then decided to try this one out, I am super happy with it. I been an avid storm chaser for 30 years and had a mount for the window which in turn always end up with the camera getting soaked. I love how I can set this back into the car and helps with rain on the front lens and the quality of this mount it rock solid. One less thing I had to try to build and works better then I thought. 5 |

As a storm chaser, I try very hard to keep my expensive equipment dry. I used plastic bags in the past, but I really like this product due to its durability. The drawstring is great as well, sure does beat a rubber band. Might be a little to spendy, and if price is an issue than just use a zip lock bag or something. But if you have the money and need a product like this, you won't be disappointed. 5 |

Well-made and solid-feeling. A great bird chaser with big Nikkor lenses and a major improvement over my old clunker Manfrotto gimbal. 5 |

Dependable, durable, tough, will never let you down. I'm a storm chaser and I depend on these cards in all conditions and have never been let down. They are fast as well. 5 |

I bought this camera a few months ago and have used it non stop. I am a storm chaser and use it for both livestreaming through a capture card as well as independently recording footage and it has not let me down. Quality of the video is excellent. 5 |

We use this in our storm chaser to capture our feed before it goes out through our LiveU backpack. When recording, saves the footage to a 256GB USB (SanDisk Ultra 3.0). It saved us numerous times when the backpack would go in and out of service. This recorder never missed a frame when recording to the USB. It works so well we bought a second one. It does it a little warm during extended use but that doesn't affect the performance. 5 |
