Wireless Headphone Audio Quality Vs Wired

Spoiled by the audio quality of my wired Countryman B6, I was a bit concerned when production needs forced me to get a wireless lav a while ago. After studying many reviews, I settled on Sennheisers AVX set, and it turned out to be a great choice. Sound quality for voice is excellent; the noise level is low, though understandably not as low as the B6 with a good pre-amp. A couple of times I had a mixed application of the AVX (wireless) and the B6 (wired) recording at the same time, which proved to be difficult because of the latency of the AVX - which isnt noticeable on its own, but creates problems when these two mics are used in proximity. To overcome that, I recently purchased a second AVX set, and Im very pleased with the results of using both simultaneously. Battery life is outstanding. The body pack transmitter is surprisingly small and light-weight, compared with some alternatives. I love how the receiver simply plugs into my recorder without any additional boxes dangling around. The buttons are a bit hard to push - fingernails work well, and the flip side is its unlikely someone will change the settings or turn it off by accident. Overall, this is a very good product. I dont see a need for a third wireless mic at the moment, but if or when the need comes, Ill get another AVX set without hesitation. 5 |

Love having this in my audio kit. Enables me to build my inventory of quality wireless lav mics and have the flexibility of using them as wired mics when needed. Using the same lav mic for wired or wireless scenarios provides a consistent sound quality to a project. It also saves space in my cases as I don't have to carry multiple wired lav systems. 5 |

This is my first bone conducting headphone purchase. The AfterShokz OpenMove Wireless Bone Conducting Headphone is light weight and actually stays in place while I exercise. My initial concern was that it might give me a headache from nesting against my ear but it turns out I often forget that I have them on me. The noise canceling feature during phone calls work very well plus the sound quality is great for what I'm using it for. I'm happy with my purchase. 5 |

I have had wireless remotes but they never last. I use the extension with the wired shutterboss and have had no problems. 5 |

I'm a videographer for a PR firm in Atlanta, and we produce a lot of corporate videos and interviews. This mic has been a goliath step forward from the wired lavs and wireless lavs we used to employ during our video sessions. The wired mics produced a very mute and flat tone, and the wireless lavs (which were top of the line Sennheiser sets) produced God-awful hiss and feedback from time to time. When you want to produce professional quality videos, the last thing you want is ugly hiss or poor quality audio to go with your good quality video footage. Enter the Audio Technica AT897 shotgun mic. This changes the way we shoot videos. We can shoot multiple subjects and not have to worry about wireless lav channel interference, hiss, feedback, and we don't have to yell 'CUT' when we suddenly hear interference. We can roll right through the whole interview and capture clean, crisp, consistent, and noiseless audio throughout the entire session. For the price tag on this mic, this is practically a steal. I've used $1K Rode shotgun mics and high end Sennheiser shotgun mics as well, and the AT897 stands up to the competition for sure! Love it. I'd get another one for sure!! 5 |

As a keyboard accompanist and supporting vocalist, I found it impossible to play my best when glued to a boom mic. I tried wireless but found it clumsy and the sound quality unreliable. Then I found this mic online. Yes, I have to remember not to stand up and walk away when it's clipped on, but it's well worth that effort. This wired lavalier has all the sound quality of a wired handheld and no wireless worries. 5 |

The sound quality is great, easy to handle, very little handling noise, excellent for wired or wireless use for its good sensitivity. 5 |
