These Samsung M.2 SSDs work flawlessly. Just like all my other Samsung memory devices. They have been rock-solid in my Qnap NAS. I highly recommend them.

This m.2 NVMe drive is excellent for small compact devices such as the XSlate R12 tablet because it runs cool. It runs far cooler than m.2 drives I tried from other manufacturers. It runs about 35 degrees Celsius idle and 45 degrees Celsiusunder load. If using Windows 7, 8, or 8.1, the Phison NVMe driver is needed for health monitoring.

Synology NAS devices are solid and configured correctly with m.2 cache drives and at least 7200 rpm NAS drives they run like a jet when used as a backup device or network share. You can even back them up to the Amazon's AWS backup cloud services.

Our studio has several Synology devices, and I am so happy with them that I am compelled to write this review on our latest edition. During COVID, we had an editor that had to go back to Ireland. Remote video editing is difficult because of the heavy data files... but Synology effectively closes the gaps. Their software makes collaborating as easy as working on Dropbox, but with total ownership and control over all of your files. What I like about this new DS1621+ is the integrated M.2 SSD slots, which allow you to enable read/write SSD caching. This effectively makes this device perform as though it was a full SSD array -- smoking fast -- while retaining the efficient storage capacity of traditional hard drives. Another huge benefit of Synology is the quality of their technical support, which can essentially be reached 24-7 over Chat. Although sometimes there is a 15-20 minute wait for a support agent, their agents have been able to help me with all of my questions and problems. I can't wait to see Synology integrate the M.2 SSD options into their 12-drive NAS devices! But until then, this device is a huge WINNER!
