Wireless Speakers For Home Network

We are only a month in but I am really liking this way of doing our home wireless internet! 5 access points through the house are giving us great coverage. The other cool part is that with the software our guy installed we have a home network, a guest network and can build out more for other uses like a security camera system, one just for the kids devices (that we can then control the hours the network is on) and all kinds of other great features and reports. Not normal to do this for a house but I would recommend it... and these... to about anyone at this point! 5 |

Over the course of 40 years I have had the best equipment to play my music and create a home theater medium for my home theater. I've always been frustrated with managing my equipment (amps, pre-amps, turn tables, disc players, wired speakers, etc.) and wires (power wires, speaker wires, network wires, etc.). With the advent of technology, I have been patiently waiting for a wireless system that can deliver superior sound without the constraints of limited bluetooth distance nor the assistance of an additional amp to power the speakers. Finally...finally, I have what I have always wanted! Superior sound delivered over WIFI! What's even better and more impressive is that the SONOS interface uses mesh wifi to create a dedicated network for itself over your existing network so you are never interrupted with lag. Hugely important! Wow, the sound is amazing, the ease of managing the system is very simple, the choices of music is limitless, and the app interface is friendly in a logically user intuitive design. It is a complete well thought out turnkey system. I currently have four Play:5's in three separate rooms and just ordered another Play:5 for the kitchen, a PlayBar for the living room, and a SUB to complete my home theater design. The app interface allows my to play speakers individually or group them together so I can either fill the house with music or let the family play their own thing in their room of choice. My children use the alarm function in their room to wake in the morning for school, my wife creates playlists for everyone, and I happily fill the house with music when I have my own time. If you're thinking of getting the Play:1 or Play:3, you have to listen to the better sound on the Play:5. If budget is an issue, just wait a little longer to save for your purchase because most likely you'll step-up and buy the Play:5 in the future. If you're thinking of getting pair of Play:1's or Play:3's for a room, I find that one Play:5 will do! 5 |

This new version of the Roku Ultra really does have better wireless connectivity to my home Wi-Fi network. Practically no buffering, and streaming starts faster. The voice remote is also great, and I like how the volume control on the side works without having to set it up with my Vizio HDTV. 5 |

I have a quite complex home network, multiple wireless devices (25), a Qnap NAS for music storage and backup for two Mac Books 5 |

I will preface these comments by saying I had a family member who is an IT professional configure and setup our home network. I would not have been able to do it myself. With that being said, I am very impressed with the Ubiquiti technology, the Nano HD was used to extend the wireless coverage in my home and home office. While I prefer a wired connection, there are many times where I am using the cell phone, iPad or a laptop on the wireless network. I could see the improvement in the wireless network by using the NanoHD to boost the quality of the wireless signal. As a background on the environment, I also have two NAS servers (54 and 80 TB) that I use for editing video projects, and use the 100 mb ethernet port on my iMac Pro computer to access both servers. We have converted the router and switch to Ubiquiti products, works very well and I can leverage my IT specialist for remote management. 5 |

The Sonos line is the next step in near wireless audio for the home, office, and public spaces. Near wireless in that each component needs to be connected to power, but you can now do without speaker wires. The installation is simple, just follow the quick reference guide or use the Sonos web site directions. The bridge works best with an Ethernet cable connection to your router. The Sonos App for tablets and smart phones is easy and intuitive. Once set up, you can either stream from on-line sources or from local media available on your home network or wireless connected devices. Biggest surprise is the richness of the sound from streaming sources as well as local network media. I ran the speaker - room calibration several times to adjust where I wanted the Sonos speaker and where I wanted to be to listen. The dynamic ability to change how sound is delivered is apparent immediately. There is a cost point for Sonos that must be considered. That said, the performance justifies the price. 5 |

I have a tech savvy friend that swears by Sonos, I have 3 Bose wireless speakers at home that I use in back yard and patio, and thought that it was great... Until I heared L5 at his house.... Holly smokes..you can hear every note with no back static and the base is so on point, just like you are at a club. My summer is coming along just fine:-) 5 |
