I found it awkward trying to switch from horizontal to vertical using a ball head. I tried others too that didn't do what I wanted. I was watching a Joel Grimes tutorial and saw he was using an L bracket. Couldn't tell which one though. Researched the topic an found many very expensive options. So I looked at the maker of all my rock solid tripods, lightstands, arms - Manfrotto. Turns out they have this L bracket. Some reviews said it didn't fit their cameras right. For me it fits all my Nikon cameras perfectly and is completely adjustable and easy to use. Certainly a bonus is that it fits all my quick release heads.. Now in the studio or the field my horizontal to vertical problem is solved. As usual it is very heavy duty - only this time made out of magnesium so it is quite light by comparison. But heavy duty and I'm sure will last with all my other manfrotto gear.. I'm very pleased. 5 |
