First one I've ever purchased. It does what I want it to do. I use it in my recording studio.

I shoot video outdoors. Normally a Rycote softie works well with my AT835ST shotgun mic. When shooting in windy conditions, the softie isn't quite enough. The RODE Blimp cuts the wind, not the sound. Even without the supplied Dead Wombat, the blimp outperformed the softie in a 20-30mph breeze. The rumble is greatly reduced compared to the softie. Add the properly groomed Dead Wombat for an even greater reduction. I noticed a slight reduction in highs when the wombat was added, but that is very minor. The RODE Blimp = good clean, usable audio when shooting in windy conditions. The B&H Signature Series Black looks sharp too! I only wish it came with a case.

Received and tried out with the dead wombat cover attached during sustained wind of 20 mph with both Rode NTG4+ and Sennheiser MKE600 microphones. Performance was impressive with very little to no wind noise recorded, depending on microphone position relative to actual wind direction. I probably will not film with wind this high, but the Rode blimp performed admirably in the test. Actual construction is very light and seems fragile, but it comes with a 10 year warranty. This speaks well for Rode durability. No carrying case, but it seems to do the job for which it is intended. All good so far.
