Ws 858 Bluetooth Microphone Review

2024-08-21 08:27:16

For a Portable Walkman I still like the NW-WS 6xx series to be able to flip from Bluetooth to local file Mp3 for when I want stories or music without a phone and hands free. The units tend to fail around 14 months so I now buy the extended warranty and its worth every penny.

We pair this with 1/4 on the WS and it looks sweet.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this ironically I was searching online for a while for a Bluetooth microphone for my job. I record memorial services for veterans who have passed away. I will use this with the 4K 60fps video on my Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max. I have been using it for a little while and it’s great! The app adds some features and functionality as well. Definitely worth it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this for doing public speaking. The sound and bluetooth microphone range are excellent. The sound is phenomenal with mp3 player. Wired microphone I already had was a plug and talk. I am looking forward to my first meeting, where I will show off my JBL Partybox On-the-Go.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first portable Bluetooth speaker. The voice quality is amazing and soo is the microphone feature on it. I can easily use it with my phone and I like that I can mute the microphone. The volume level goes upto pretty high and the bass is perfect. The buttons are easy to operate and the size is very nice. Battery life so far is very impressive

Nothing to say that hasn't already been said. B&Ws are all I put on my lenses.

Upgraded from my 758-DR to this new 858. Love the touch screed and how fast and easy this is to use with really only the need to use the touch screen the vast majority of the time. Has the features to help me get into some DSLR Video and for High Speed Flash. Now if it just had a radio module to control my Canon Speedlites it would be even more awesome.

Before buying the 858 I used and still own 2 Pentax Digital Spotmeters. Love them but not the fact there’s literally only one person in the US that can calibrate them and he’s not the friendliest person made me look for another option. I bought the 858 to be my main meter. Wanted a new meter, and frankly with the prices or used ones on eBay (even more for us sellers, go figure) it made sense just to buy this one. There is a learning curve (especially coming from years with the Pentax). So far I have been able to do everything I want and more. Yes there is a little lag turning it on. I found if you leave stuff in the memory it slows down boot time. Got use to the touch screen. Not sure why everyone acts like it’s a deal breaker. I had smart phones in the past with worse screens. The spot meter (I use the most as a landscape photographer) has a smaller viewfinder then the Pentax, and has difficulty on closer subjects while the Pentax has no issues. Another coming complaint I see is about the lack of buttons vs the 758. Honestly if you want a bunch of buttons, get a used 758. Problem solved. As for the screen, everything is labeled, no more using code like “3-0.0-1.3” and figuring out which number means what in the settings. After handling it a bit, dialing in profiles, it’s a pretty fast workflow now.
