Keyboard is shrunken but playable synth-action with velocity and after-touch to work out your music. The 64-step, 8-note sequencer lets you do some complicated things already, not just dance beats. It’s sturdy built and stays put nicely. Knobs and pads are firm to touch. Actually got the BeatStep first but realized that’s more for DJ’s. Thought I’d miss the knobs but I play with one hand and the other using the mouse works fine to tweak the sound. The sequencer here also excels, worth it alone. This keyboard creates both MIDI and CV and it's also a sequencer and a drum-machine and everything you would like to have. It makes most of my Eurorack modules so much more useful, because there are things I wouldn't do because of too much wiring, but KeyStep Pro creates all the signals, they're synchronized and it's so much easier. 5 |

sounds beautiful, like whale farts – won’t drone w/o 5V Gate or MIDI ON message (most will use MIDI keyboard or sequencer to play, although Doepfer A-119 can be a great controller/interface as well, for feeding and Gating w/ external audio). accompanying literature is good. as other's have said elsewhere, some indication of presets would be nice. Overall, excellent sounding synth. Oh ya, heads up, this is MONOphonic, so if you want to play chords, send them in the AC input. peace 5 |
