Z50 Mirrorless Digital Camera

The Nikon Z50 is an excellent complement to and a suitable transition from my Nikon D7100. It's Nikon's first APS-C mirrorless camera. A similarly-equipped Z6 would be more than three times as much (w/comparable full-frame 24-70mm and 80-400mm lenses) and would render my current APS-C glass obsolete. I always thought that full-frame lenses were the way to go for APS-C cameras because of the “sweet spot” argument, thereby avoiding the marginal corner performance of most non-professional lenses. This is self-defeating in the sense that one pays for the full-frame coverage and has to accept the concomitant weight penalty. The Z50 takes normal SD memory cards [albeit only one slot - SD/SDHC/SDXC (UHS-I)], and has a built-in flash that is lacking in the Z6 and Z7. Both kit lenses appear to have ultra-sharp optics, fast autofocus and are incredibly lightweight. Unfortunately, their lens shades are excluded from the kit. The FTZ Lens Mount Adapter became the decision-maker by B&H's offering it as a bundled savings. This makes my favorite compliment of Nikon Landscape & Macro Two Lens Kit with 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR & 40mm f/2.8G as well as my Nikon DX Fisheye 10.5mm f2.8G ED totally usable. DX lenses on full-frame Z6 or Z7 bodies automatically crop their sensors to DX, so you're discarding more than half your sensor area and getting less resolution than by using them on a Z50. Granted, the Z50 lacks in-camera five-axis image stabilization, but alternatively, the lenses do have vibration reduction. If you own a majority of DX lenses, I highly recommend the Z50 mirrorless alternative. 5 |

I bought this lens for my Z50 mirrorless camera. It is lighter than what I currently was using . When I put it on my camera, I couldn't get it to focus. Definitely operator error so I made an appointment to get some virtual assistance. That was the best thing I could have done. now I have a light camera and lens for our future trip to Hawaii. 5 |

I've been searching for the perfect bag for my Nikon Z50 mirrorless camera while biking. This is it. My camera fits perfectly and the bag fits great on me. It has a tethered lens cloth inside, a pocket for the lens cap, and one for a battery, and memory cards. 5 |

Works great with my Z50 mirrorless camera and spare lens - easy hold my 11 iPad and cables - carry access is typical Peak Design and well worth the cost. I would buy again without hesitation. 5 |

I hemmed and hawed about getting the Z50 I had depleted my DX equipment purposely and moved on to full frame. After enough You Tube viewing to make my eyes red. I started to see what most everyone was raving about. A mirrorless camera the size of a bridge camera that would use most of my FX lenses when I wanted it to and a terrific, though be it slow, zoom lens on the thing witch gave the equivalent of a 24 - 70mm lens in FX. All in a very portable size. In this review I won't get specifically into its operation. I have only had it a few days and admittedly, am unfamiliar with mirrorless cameras. But if what I have been able to do so far is any indication of what I will do in the future with this, Wow! hang on. It in conjunction with my FX collection really makes for a bunch of possibilities. Just on first impressions alone, its worth the price. Watch some You Tube videos like I did and then get your hands on one. 5 |

I finally bought a mirrorless Nikon camera after years of hesitation. I bought the Z50 because of the extensive amount of Nikon lenses I already owned. I purchased the FTZII adaptor at the same time. My main camera for land/sports photography is my D500. My underwater camera is a D7100. The Z50 is a marvelous little camera. It does everything a camera of its caliber is supposed to do and much more. I have yet to find any issues with using the adaptor and any of my Nikon and Sigma lenses. I you are DX format camera owner and have considered buying this camera, do it, you won't be unhappy. I only bought the body because I already own similar lenses that the similar Z Lenses didn't add any advantage for. 5 |

I needed an easy to carry bag for my Nikon Z50 mirrorless camera. This bag seems to fit it perfectly. It has room for the camera with the standard kit lens and there is a small pocket inside to put a spare battery in. It's all you need for walking around photography. 5 |

I love this backpack. Fits my Nikon z50 mirrorless camera with 500mm Nikor lens on it along with 2 other lenses and cleaning supplies. Outer pockets for drink and tripod. Top pocket for phone. Live the opening against my body, but ease of access when laid flat. Happy with purchase 5 |

I have been very pleased with the new Nikon Z50 2 Lens kit. It is much smaller and lighter than my other cameras, and it is very comfortable to handle and use. It just feels right when I pick it up. Both lenses focus quickly and quietly, and they produce sharp photos. They are well matched to the camera, and in spite of the plastic construction, they seem well made. The photos are very sharp and crisp and compare very favorably with the photos that I take with my D7500. Being a Nikon owner already, I had no trouble using the menu system. Since there are fewer buttons, it does take a little adjusting to shift from the dslr to the mirrorless, but once I had used the camera for a few days, the adjustment became easier. I love the eye autofocus. What really makes me happy is the video performance of the camera. The Z50's video autofocus is so much better than the the D7500! One thing that is quite different is the battery life. Managing the battery is much more important with the Z50, and I am very glad that I purchased a second battery. In summary, I love the Z50 and I'm glad I made it my first mirrorless camera. 5 |
