Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What are the dimensions of the camera insert on the 450?

A: The camera compartment dimensions in Lowepro Flipside Trek BP 450 AW Backpack (Gray/Dark Green) are 13'' x 10'' x 7'' (LxWxD).

Q: 2. Are the material durable? Are they water resistance fabric that can stand light shower or wet ground?

A: Yes, theis bag is strongly water resistent due to a built in rain cover, and also the material is durable.

Q: 3. Does a 2017 13 inch MacBook Pro fit in the 350 iteration of the bag?

A: No, it won't fit. I was hoping my 2011 13-inch macbook pro would fit in the 350 bag but it didn't fit. And I would guess the 2017 macbook version won't either.

Q: 4. Would it fit a Nikon 500mm PF mounted on a D500 ? (lens attached)

A: No, the Lowepro Flipside Trek BP 450 AW Backpack (Gray/Dark Green) is too small to fit the Nikon 500mm PF mounted on a D500.

Q: 5. I see no evidence in the photos of “Body Side Access.” Is it actually there on the BP 450 or is this mislisted? Does someone have a pic of the opening in the side if it is there? Thanks!!

A: "Body Side Access" means that the opening for the camera would be against the body when wearing the backpack. The camera opening is securely against your back which helps from theft of your gear when wearing your backpack in busy urban areas, and it allows you to access your gear while wearing the backpack with the attached waist belt, and/or allows you to place your pack on the ground without getting dust or debris in the backpack or putting dirt on the back of the case. The images on our website show the opening on the side of the case closest to your back when wearing the backpack. There is no side access for this case, only body-side access. If you click the "Show More" link under the image, it will show more images of the case, including images of the open case, and the last image is an image of a model wearing the case and open while accessing the gear as described above.

Q: 6. Is the Torso length adjustable? I'm 5'8' and not sure if this bag will be too big for me (21-22 in torso)

A: The Lowepro Flipside Trek BP 450 AW Backpack shoulder straps can be adjusted on the bottom. The Active zone is 20'' long.

Q: 7. How well would a Benro series 2 Mach 3 with 3 sections tripod fit in this backpack?

A: That Benro tripod has a folded length of 26" and the maximum dimension of the pack is 12", so it wouldn't fit inside the pack, but it could be carried attached to the outside of the pack easily.

Q: 8. What exactly are the materials used to make this backpack? Polyester or Nylon?

A: The materials listed are: Poly 500D Kodra, Poly 500D X 300D Dobby, Tricot Polyester, and Velex Nylon.

Q: 9. Will the 250 AW fit a travel tripod such as the Vanguard Veo 2 265AB in the side compartment?

A: I'm not familiar with that particular tripod but I will tell you that the tripod pocket on the side of this backpack is the one disappointment that I have with the one I purchased. The side pocket is made of very lightweight material that will not withstand much in the way of wear. My travel tripod will not fit in the pocket but I have carried a collapsed monopod. Hope this helps. Other than the above problem, I like the item.

Q: 10. Will a Peak Capture plate attach to the straps on this pack?

A: As the bag itself has no arca-swiss clamp, there will be no way to attach the plate to the bag. However, if you mean attaching the Peak Design Capture Clip system, there are several places where the clip can be attached. The straps taper out and can be snuggly fit over the thickest part of the material. If your equipment isn't too heavy (medium-SLR or mirrorless) you can also attach it to several of the thinner-material straps that are on the main shoulder straps. In either case, we recommend that you use the hex-head fastening screws rather than the normal ones.

Comfortable. Fits tons of gear. Has space for non-camera gear hen you need it, but can open up to fit a large telephoto too. Only complaint is that it doesn't have a sleeve for a bladder.

I can't say enough positive things about this pack. It is very comfortable. The venting/cushion system on the back fits well (and I'm 6'02 and 250 lbs.). The lower pocket comfortably holds my full frame with 70-200 attached (lens hood reversed), plus a couple of other primes. This is the first bag/pack where I have actually had an excess of dividers provided, which is a pleasant surprise. Pack is relatively light overall with heavy stitching, metal zippers, and plenty of loops for the avid non-conformist packer. Quick access top pouch with attached rain hood.

The top pack is separate and easily holds my lunch and non-camera accessories I want to travel with. You could slip a water bottle on each side, or a tripod on one. I've tried the tripod jury-rigged to the back straps and it didn't work well (weight shift was a deal-breaker). The only improvement I could suggest for this pack is some type of extension cup for larger tripods, which some of us like to carry even on those long walks. Some reviewers have complained that the lower waist pads and straps are not removable - which they are not - but I have also walked with them loose and they're fairly unobtrusive.

With the myriad bags and packs available, I never know if I'm making the right choice. This bag was made for BOTH comfort and equipment in mind. I made the right choice this time.

Very comfartable backpack. I tried several packs and none of them was comfartable for me. I sits good on your back and supports good.
It fits my Nikon D750, with a 70-200, a 24-70 and a 10-24 lens on it. Plus several accesoires.

Awesome pack! Holds all my gear with room up top for a lunch or extra layer of clothing. This pack is perfect for my photo adventures.

I just got this well-built pack. I've loaded it up to check it out but I haven't actually used it. I've used Lowepro packs before, and so far this one seems to be among the best. Somewhere, it might have been on this site, the owner of some photo backpack, not this one, complained bitterly that the zipper broke while he was walking and his expensive gear fell out onto a sidewalk and broke. He asked the bag maker to refund the cost of the equipment. They refused, of course. One star for you guys, he decided, and I don't blame him. The zippers on the 350 appear strong, and they operate freely. Furthermore -- and this is not so obvious from any of the photos -- this bag has been designed so that even if all its well-made zippers broke at once, your gear would not fall out and onto the ground while you're wearing it. This is an important selling point, even if it isn't mentioned in the overview or the specs. If you're trying to decide between the 350 and, say, the smaller 250, be aware that the 350 (and 450 as well) have a much sturdier waist band than their smaller-volume counterparts. You can see this in the photos if you look carefully. If you've ever backpacked, you know how important it is to be able to shift your pack weight from your shoulders to your hips, for the purpose of reducing fatigue. The 350 and higher models have better waist bands for stronger waist support. A minor complaint: Product photos show that a tripod can be carried on one side or the other of this bag with the feet lodged in an outer pocket. But these pockets do not seem designed to hold a tripod's feet. And besides, with a tripod on one side and nothing on the other, your load will be lopsided. The right place for a tripod foot holder is on the bottom center of the outside of the pack. Maybe Lowepro will add a tripod foot pouch in the next iteration of this pack; I hope so. Meanwhile, I plan to improvise a center tripod pocket for the 350.
