Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with a Sony A6400?

A: Yes, the Kopul CMX-2-V2 Two-Channel Passive DSLR XLR Adapter is compatible for use with the 3.5 mm TRS stereo microphone input on the Sony a6400 Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 2. Is this a preamp?

A: It is a two channel mixer with two preamps.

Q: 3. Does this cable preserves the balanced signals from an XLR mic into the 3.5" TSR connection in a DSLR? I need a cable that provides better RFI protection.

A: The 3.5mm TRS input on a DSLR camera (or recorder) is unbalanced, so the Sescom SES-CAMCORD-MIC DSLR Adapter Cable is sending a balanced signal into an unbalanced input. The cable is designed to be high quality, but the manufacturer has not provided specifications regarding the type of shielding that is used or the details for signal to noise ratio. It should do a good job of sending a clean signal into the camera and avoiding RFI.

Q: 4. Can I send those audio signals over phone line to someone who is in distance?

A: Unfortunately not. The Saramonic SmartRig+ is not a telephone interface. We carry a vast array of products from companies like JK Audio that will allow you to send audio over a telephone line; be it a PBX or POTS line, or even a cellular phone.

Q: 5. Can this be used to switch a single input (a DAC) between two outputs (headphone amp, main rig amp)?

A: Hi Michael: I don't see why it would be a problem since the unit is passive and has no internal electronics to contend with. You may hear a slight pop when switching between your two output sources and might have to mute or reduce the volume of the unit that you are switching to .Hope this helps.Rick

Q: 6. Does the switch pop when switching output in live PA situation?

A: Hi Kevin. There will in all likelihood be an audible click or pop from the switch itself when depressed. However, as a passive device, whether that noise would bleed into the signal would depend on what is connected, according to our engineers, and there is no way to really tell what noise would come through the signal beforehand. I hope this is helpful. Thank you!

Q: 7. Can phantom power pass through these?

A: This is designed as a volume control for line level devices. Sescom does not recommend this for use as a microphone level control, and it does not pass phantom power.

Q: 8. Is the image outdated? The SESCOM site shows a recessed A/B switch and these images show the older style and accident prone A/B switch.

A: Yes, the image on Sescom's website does show the current version of the SES-XLR-AB which was recently updated with a recessed A/B switch. We will post the updated image to our website to show the current version of this item.

Q: 9. What app do I need on my iPhone with this? Does it interface with GarageBand?

A: The Saramonic SmartRig+ can be used with GarageBand or any recording app that is compatible with your iPhone. The SmartRig+ is simply an audio interface that provides a way to connect an instrument or microphone with your iPhone.

Q: 10. Is the bottom mount 1/4-20 ?

A: Yes, the SmartRig+ does provide a 1/4"-20 threaded mounting point on the bottom to attach to a tripod, mic stand, camera, or other device.

I purchased this cable to link an MP3 player, outdoors, to an amp, and then out to a speaker. The gold plated terminals were important. The 3.5mm plug has a satisfying snick when plugged in, is secure and positive. The insulation is of good quality and the XLR plugs are equally exact fitting as the 3.5mm plug, and smooth acting. Overall a great quality cable and hooking directly between a 3.5mm mini plug and XLRs, on two channels, is a great bonus to me.
