The CameraKey Tool from Fotodiox is made for Hasselblad cameras and lenses. A lens can only be taken off or mounted onto a Hasselblad body when both the body and lens are cocked, although sometimes the shutter is released on the body while the lens is still cocked. This tool allows you to cock the lens and the body so that you can mount or un-mount the lens. One side of the tool is for cocking the lens and the other side is for cocking the body. A leather carrying case is included with the tool.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this tool also for the new Orange Dot Hasselblad lenses of just older lenses?

A: This tool is specific to older Hasselblad V system lenses which have a leaf shutter in them.

Q: 2. What's the lens crop factor ?Any lens vignette ?Is there a lens lock switch to prevent lens falling out of the adapter ?

A: I would suggest dropping crop factor. Calculating what the Angle of View is for a format you are not using does not make sense if you do it all the time. It is far better to learn what the mm lengths are for normal-wide-tele for the sensor you are using. Since the mm of a lens does not physically, change you can then tell at a glance what the perspective will be. But to answer your question, since you are going from a larger film format 63 x 63mm, to a smaller digital format, 43.8 x 32.9mm, the perspective change, or crop factor is 1.4. Lens vignetting will depend on the lens. The wider you go the greater the chance. However, we do not know offhand of any lens that would vignette with this set up. Finally, as in all lens mounts that are not screw-in, there is a catch you must release in order to dismount the lens.

Q: 3. I assume this hood attaches to the lens like the drop-in filter ring does. Can drop in filters still be used with this?

A: Unfortunately the FotodioX Lens Hood for Hasselblad 50mm Distagon C cannot be used with drop in filters.

Q: 4. Will it fit Mamiya C330s?

A: This strap is specific to Hasselblad V system cameras.

Q: 5. IS THIS ADAPTER STILL AVAILABLE AS A SPECIAL ORDER ?

A: Yes, that adapter is available for special order.

Q: 6. Can i use for Canon EOS M?

A: I am not positive, but I believe the strap works only on Hasselblad's attachment system.

Q: 7. Are there any filters compatible with this lens hood?

A: No, the FotodioX Lens Hood for Hasselblad 50mm Distagon C does not have filter threads to allow a filter to be attached.

Q: 8. Will this fit camera with lugs that are 6mm dia. at widest (the cap)and 4mm under the cap (the waist)?

I like and prefer tools and the feeling of heft in something well made... this tool is that.

The Hasselblad 500 CM is a great camera and is totally analogue. No electrical components at all. It is truly a precision machine. However, there are times when the camera locks up - when the lens has been released and the camera body is still cocked. When this happens, you cannot remove the lens, you cannot release the shutter and you cannot wind the camera. The only way to unlock it is with a screwdrive or this tool. With the screwdriver, you risk scratching the back element of the lens when turning the cocking screw for the lens (which has a LOT of spring pressure). This tool slides OVER the cocking screw, preventing it from slipping and damaging the Zeiss lens glass. Easy to use, easy to pack in the camera bag and a life saver when you're in the field and the camera locks up.
