$659.85 $956.78

The Pro Nikon F Large Format 4x5 Adapter from Fotodiox allows you to attach your Nikon F SLR or DSLR camera onto many types of 4 x 5 cameras. The offset adapter allows you to move your camera's sensor vertically and horizontally so you can take multiple photos covering the entire 4 x 5 back and then stitching them together with software. Incremental markings help you position the camera and a tension screw lock keeps your camera from moving while shooting. You can also shoot only in the middle of the back, thereby shooting in the sweet spot of the lens, giving you edge-to-edge sharpness. Additionally, it will provide infinity focus for lenses 120mm and longer.

Q: 10. Can you please explain those numbers 1,2,3 and 6,4,6 are? Which one to use for full-frame camera or orientation (portrait or landscape) to use with those numbers?

A: The unit only works in horizontal direction .You would need to rotate the camera to use this adaptor in portrait orientation. The numbers are guides for repeat positioning.Depending on your camera the guides would represent a certain amount of overlap for the final stitching.

As with the safety pin, this excellent adapter is simple but perfect! I so far have made three top-of-my-ability prints on a bottom of the line Swiss-Arca 4x5, using a Canon sensor (approx. 22 x 15 mm). Since the index markings on the face of the adapter presumably are for full frame sensors, I covered them with tape marked in cm and mm. My work flow:Set up the 4x5 as usual for filmRaise the back by less than 22 mmMount the DSLR with the image's long axis verticalExpose a frame, shift the DSLR less than 15 mm, repeat until row is doneLoosen the back and let is slide downExpose along this new rowUse Photoshop to stitch the imagesIssues:I had to remove the focusing glass on my 4x5. The lens-to-sensor distance is longer than it was for film. Consequently, depending on focal length, you may not be able to focus to infinity. Using the thin lens approximation and some reasonable (I hope) assumptions, I computed BALL PARK maximum focusable distances: offset refers to the distance from the (missing) ground glass to the new sensor. Since a camera lens is not a thin lens, these numbers should not be over-interpreted.FOCAL-LENGTH OFFSET FARTHEST-FOCUSmm mm m===================================240 1 58 4 15135 1 19 4 580 1 7 4 2

I just submitted an erroneous review and would like to rescind it, please.

I wrote that I was unable to use the adapter on the bottom half of my Chamonix 4x5 camera and I was wrong. I forgot to take into account that the camera back can be rotated thus solving my dilemma.

I apologize for this and I am hopeful that the review can be taken down.

This is one of the coolest things I've owned. It allows me a lot of flexibility as well as the capability to use large format cameras and lenses. Not to mention that I can easily stich together a 120 mb image! Welll made and easy to use. I just wish I had purchased it sooner. I highly recommend it.

I use a 4X5 camera for some of the art work i do. Film is great but sometimes it takes a while and its not cheap. with this adapter i am able to get 3 position shots on the 4X5 and stitch them together with Photoshop to get a crisp, large format digital print. its sturdy and works perfectly! its also of course great for a quick look at how the shot will be if i do choose to switch it out and use film.

I give it 5 stars because it exactly performs as advertised. Very well built also. But beware, the deep flange plus the mirror box of the f-mount makes this setup useless for lenses 150 mm. I have also found that the resolution of my Schneider and Nikon large-format lenses cannot compete with the latest optics made for digital sensors. But if you need 200, 300, or 500 mm focal length with tilt/shift to boot and you have the camera and lenses sitting in the shelf, then by any means, this adapter is worth every penny.

Good build quality and works as it should. Allows me to attach my Nikon F mount camera to my 4x5. Works great when using on center swings and tilts such as macro photography or table top photography.
