Had a 1600mm lens attached to this and was easily able to track the movement of the moon. At 1600 mm I had to constantly shift both axis and it did a great job. It is not super fast, meaning the threads on the adjustments are pretty fine, so if you are trying to track birds of something moving you will have to crank pretty quickly to keep up. But if that bird lands on a branch and you zoom an and want to adjust to frame the shot properly you can easily do it with some practice.
