I usually read the manual, but wanted to jump right in and take some pics - and the result was fantastic! Then with a little reading I was quickly able to do some of the art effects and panoramic shooting. Manual is easy to read and the buttons are situated well. Some tasks require you to press two buttons as once which is taking a bit of practice. I am an amature photographer, but this camera provides exceptional pictures. The lenses are easy to switch and the alignment dots are nice. Solid without being heavy, finish is good, screen is very clear in detail and the smart screen helps compose shots easily. This unit is as good as some of the more expensive cameras I looked at. Definetly a good deal in both cost and performance. ...

Advanced amateur...live view and preview are my favorites so far..I use it for macro flowers and fungi. IS works beautifully and all the images are sharp with great texture! Only negative is low light focus, but easy when using manual focus. My E-500 is good backup camera.

It is very easy to get professional quality pictures from this camera. The kit lens is very very good for what it is. Have been able to adapt my older Nikon (film) camera glass quite adequately. Love how it fits my hand and how all the controls are so well thought out. Am having a lot of fun trying out each of the features and capabilities. Yes, there are a lot of gadgetry but still, I feel this camera will be a durable, high performance workhorse for my picture-taking uses -- for years to come! It just moved ahead of my other two digital cameras.

I used the newly-bought camera for two weeks (including an outdoor hike), and I am very satisfied. It is easy-to-use (although it is the first SLR camera I ever use), very good quality pictures, fast. It was easy to achieve desired effects, and shooting in difficult situations (like a person on the background of clouds, in-house tripod shooting to capture pendulum clock movement, capture a bird in the flight). Lens in the kit work very good for me, and the kit is very cheap for its quality and versatility. Our second camera is 12x-zoom Canon S5 (advanced point-and-shoot). With this kit we got almost the same versatility, with very noticeable improvement in quality and shooting speed. It is also quite small (although larger than Canon S5) and easy to handle for me and my wife. It was light enough to carry over the neck during 5 hours' hike (with both lenses).

I don't know much about SLR's, but this is a great camera to learn from. Having the manual and auto options is wonderful. Went for a hike to use my camera for the first time and was so impressed.

I'm a amateur photographer who shoots daily in a variety of situations. The E-620 is my third Evolt. I really like the flip live view screen. I shoot with various lenses and the camera performs well in all situations.

Overall, an excellent purchase. Incredible light, especially compared to higher end cameras. All buttons are intuitive with little practice and within ease reach, important with smaller hands etc. The kit lens that came with the camera (14-42mm) is better quality than one would expect from a kit, quick AF and smooth operation. Long battery life and The menus are fairly easy to navigate, but when taken out of the box the more advanced settings had to be turned on. The viewfinder is fairly small, used to shoot film and it is quite an adjustment. There are magnifying optics to enlarge the display. As with most less expensive DSLR cameras, shooting at high ISO introduces some noise. Though this is not really an issue when utilizing a flash and lower ISO. I would highly recommend this camera to someone looking for a first DSLR camera or a smaller but higher grade camera to travel.

I purchased the E-620 to replace my E-500, which is still working great. My immediate impressions of the E-620 is the great functionality in either PASM modes or the built in modes. This camera is great. The only complaint I have is the noise at higher ISO settings, but I had the same problem with my E-500.

I have been a professional photographer/film-maker for 40 years, and am mainly involved in wildlife, macro, portrait and theater photography. Over that time I've tried most of what is available re: camera gear. I must say that the E-620 is the most surprising camera I have used in terms of lightness, adaptability and image quality, especially for the price. Because it was so ridiculously cheap, I bought the 2-lens kit, not really expecting Earth-shattering results. Another surprise. Both lenses yield excellent colour balance; they are remarkably easy to use and extremely quick to focus. Maybe because I am a bit older than I was, I find the larger DSLR's can become tiring to use for long periods. The E-620 is certainly not fatiguing, even when using longer lenses such as the f2 50-200mm. The camera's combination of small size and solid construction also provide a firm, secure grip. You don't have to join the megapixel race to achieve excellent image quality and great-looking, sharp enlargements. Whether you're a beginner or a pro, you couldn't do better than to try this superb piece of engineering.
