Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible with the (sigma 18-35mm f1.8)?

A: Yes, it would. When using a follow focus your lens must have compatible gears. To add gears to your Sigma 18-35mm focus ring please purchase the seamless gear ring listed below or use the included Zip gear that comes included with the Smallrig Mini follow focus. Q: 2. will this work with canon dslr comparable lenses?

A: This will work with a Canon DSLR lens with added gears plus a 15mm rods and baseplate. You will have to determine the diameter of the lens and find a gear such as this one below.

Q: 3. This FF works with Zeiss Compact Prime 2.0? Thanks.

A: Yes, it works with any lens with gears.

Q: 4. this might sound crazy but could you theoretically use this for zoom?

A: Yes this geared focus wheel could be used to manually dial in a zoom on an appropriately geared lens, or on some photography lens with geared adapters, such as the Wide Open Camera Universal Lens Gear: WILU; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/839296-REG/Lens_Gear_605859_LENSGEAR_UNIVERSAL_LENS.html

Q: 5. Is this the same product as the Alphatron?

A: The only Alphatron Follow Focus unit we have is the Triad RF-15. While that also connects to 15mm rods it has a different overall design. They are not the same product.

Q: 6. How heavy is this?

A: The Cavision Bracket Plate for 15mm LWS and 19mm Studio Support Rods (B&H# CARBP19104) weighs just over 1 lb. (454g).

Q: 7. DoI need any extra equipment to use this on the Fujinon 18-55mm on my Sony FS7?

A: You won't need gear ring for cine lenses, but the gear ring comes in the FF-02 kit. What you may or may not need is the extension arm (FF-ARM-02) because the fujinon 18-55 has smaller diameter and the original gear on the FF-02 may not reach the gear on your fujinon

Q: 8. Whould this work with Rokinon Xeen lenses?

A: Both the Xeen lenses and this Lanparte follow focus adhere to industry standards so they should integrate without issue.

Q: 9. I lost the black socket screw that fastens the L-shaped arm to the gear box. What is the size of this screw?

A: I'm sorry to say that it sounds like you need a Service Part which would be obtained from LanParte directly. For further assistance with this feel free to email us at ask@bandh.com.

Q: 10. Can the hard stops be removed for lens that already have hard stops and require more than one full rotation of the control?

A: Alan I have a lens with hard stops. The purpose of the follow focus is to create hard stops inside the range of the hard stops on the lens. If you wish to use the lens hard stops simply push the hard stop arrow on the FF all the way back to disengage it. you can also loosen the adjustable screws so that they rest at the bottom of the disk and don't interfere with anything else. The cavision focus gear ring fits evenly around the focus ring on my Panasonic AG-UG 180 camcorder. Also matches the Cavision focus puller gear and rotates evenly and smoothly. It has a convenient adjustable stop on the gear ring to set at the focus limit.
