The microphone's transformer-coupled output and specially tuned element provide sonic characteristics similar to early F.E.T. studio microphone designs. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will this work with an iPad or iPhone?

A: This mic is designed to work with a computer only. The Shure MOTIV MV51 Digital Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone (Silver) ,B&H # SHMV51A is a good example of a model that can work with a computer or an iOS device.

Q: 2. What records the sound? The camera or the mic's memory card?

A: This mic has an XLR cable so if your camera has an XLR input then you can record to your camera. The mic doesn't have a memory card. I film with a DSLR so I use a Zoom H4N to pass the mic input to my camera.

Q: 3. Will I still be able to use my external Audio Engine speakers when I'm on a web conference? In other words, will the Nano eliminate any sound feedback?

A: The Nano was not designed with DSP meant to cancel out noise. While you could connect the headphone output of the mic to your Audio Engine speakers, feedback could be a potential issue. We would recommend using headphones if you are using the Yeti, or perhaps look at a conferencing style speakerphone for noise cancellation such as BH #YAYVC200B.

Q: 4. what applications are best for this mic?

A: The ATM450 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone from Audio-Technica is designed with a side-address capsule, allowing for easy placement and flexible positioning on percussion, guitar cabinets, piano, and similar applications.

Q: 5. Hi, since this mic is no longer availbile, which would be a similar mic?

A: The AKG P170 (B&H #AKP170B) could be considered quite similar to the Audio-Technica AT2021 Cardioid Condenser Microphone.

Q: 6. Will this mic work with a chromebook?

A: Yes it will work, the cable provided in the box is USB-A, if the computer does not have USB-A the adapter bellow will convert it to USB-C https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1128928-REG/apple_mj1m2am_a_usb_c_to_usb_adapter.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 7. Hello. I wonder how noisy it is? How does it work for recording low volume stuff?

A: The AT2021 Cardioid Condenser Microphone is designed for general instrument capturing, vocals, amplifier cabinets, and similar applications. It's signal to noise ratio is 75db and has a max SPL of 145db. It features a Cardioid polar pattern, reducing sound pickup from the sides and rear, improving isolation of the desired sound source.

Q: 8. Can I plug this into my Sony HandyCam (Camcorder)?

A: In order to connect the AT 831B to a camcorder with 1/8 input, you will need to insert batteries into the mics power supply module. You will also need to adapt the output with a special adapter such as the Kopul LMT-100. a href= http://bhpho.to/1yMIinD target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1yMIinD/a

Q: 9. Could this mic also be used as an overhead for an interview with good results?

A: Unlikely. It is not designed for that purpose. Dependant on distance and room acoustics; this mic is designed for close proximity, generally within inches of a musical instrument. That said, in a quiet room, with 1-2' of distance this mic MAY obtain good results for a single person.

Q: 10. Would this mic work in a large group of 15 people arranged in a circle with this mic in the center of the circle? Or do the players have to be within a foot of the mic?

A: While this mic has an omni-directional pickup pattern option and could pick up sound 360 degrees around it, however distant those people are from the mic is how it would sound. As well, you would certainly pick up a large amount of room noise. Typically, for a quality recording you would want the source of the audio to be no more than 12'' from the mic itself.

First off...the accessories are fantastic! Comes in a nice metal carrying case, with an all metal shock mount thats high quality. The mic itself is built extremely well and for $149, with the polar pattern switch, low cut filter, and -10db pad switch...it's hard to find fault FOR THE PRICE.

The only thing I can say thats not 100% positive is this....for VOICE work, this will work best on DEEPER voices, as it has that crisp bright top end sizzle to it. For instruments, and everything but voice work with a higher pitched voice...its a fantastic bargain.

I made a big mistake when I bought this mic. They were on sale and I bought three; I should have bought six. These mics are an astounding value. We have a live Internet news show called On Target Radio that broadcasts via Facebook and YouTube. I bought three to cover our engineer, my co-host and myself. I should have bought an additional three for in-studio guests. The difference between these mics and our old ones is nothing short of wonderful and the multi-pattern makes them very versatile. If they go on sale again I'm buying three more.

I love this thing. Perfect for podcasting and voiceover. It comes with a great carrying case for transporting. The quick switch high pass filter is a great touch. Had to do some ADR on a low budget film I was making and couldnt afford to go into a sound studio. I was able to get the job done with this mic at my apartment with very pleasing results.

These are extremely well-built, and so is the shock mount. The case is excellent too; rigid. It could have better (dual) latches for people like me who worry about a single latch opening at an inopportune time. The fact that it comes with either and both of these already makes the mic a bargain. 10/10 for quality of build, and that includes the actual condenser, which is gold plated. The sound is Rich, but not too rich or bassy. Neutral for male or female I would say. Specs tell you it's very good, but for 20x more $ you can get ever so slightly slightly better. Impedance is great for long runs, and not common at this price point.
