Q: 1. this product handles only one NDI feed at a time? Can I use it to deliver two feeds at the same time or do I need two of these units.

A: Hi, this device handles one source feed at a time.

Q: 2. Can someone confirm that this device can already support NDI HX? Magewell website indicates that NDI HX decoding is now supported I guess via firmware update.

A: The Magewell Pro Convert NDI to HDMI does support full NDI, NDI|HX1, NDI|HX2, and NDI 4.x. decoding as long as the user has the latest firmware V1.1.595 installed.

Q: 3. I'd like to output a Transparent lower thirds image from my computer via NDI, will this device receive the keyed image via NDI and pass it along via the HDMI going into my ATEM?

A: NDI does support Alpha channel keying. The Magewell Pro Convert NDI to HDMI Decoder would work.

Q: 4. When switching between NDI sources, will it switch seamlessly, or will it go to black while switching?

A: Yes. As long as a good internet connection is in play an end-user can expect to receive a seamlessly experience using the hardware.

Q: 5. Can I use an NDI app on my phone to send video to this device?

A: no this is NOT a wireless NDi device and you can not use an NDI app to send video to this device but if you have an HDMI video out from your mobile device you can connect the HDMI signal to this and it will convert the HDMI signal to NDI

Q: 6. When I switch between layer sets in mimolive, the screen receiving the HDMI signal blinks once or twice. Any ideas on why this might happen? Ps: This does not happen when I connect the screen HDMI directly to my MacPro.

A: Some devices do flicker or blink when they are connected via HDMI.

A: Yes, the Magewell Pro Convert NDI to HDMI Decoder does output 3840 x 2160 30 fps over HDMI.

Q: 8. I'm using this with my Avid Media Composer on my laptop to get a clean reference monitor signal out. The audio is out of sync. Its ahead of the avid playback. Is there something to adjust to fix this?

A: NDI introduces delay therefore we typically don't recommend using NDI in an editing scenario. if your goal is to have the audio and video in sync you will need to output both the Audio and the video via NDI.

Q: 9. I have an ATEM Mini Pro on order and have to get 3 x PTZ cams for our church (when they are back in stock!). I like the idea of the PTZ Optics NDI cams but how would I get their o/p into the HDMI inputs of the Atem Mini Pro?

A: this converter could be used to convert the NDI signal from the camera to an HDMI signal that can be fed directly into the ATEM Mini pro switcher

Q: 10. Can I receive an RTSP or RTMP streaming signal on this device. Not local?

A: The Magewell Pro Convert NDI to HDMI Decoder is also compatible with H.264/H.265 streams in additional protocols including RTSP, HTTP, HLS, RTMP Pull/Push and MPEG-TS over UDP/SRT/RTP.

I was fighting with a Blackmagic shuttle device, which would only work on a prior OS on my Mac, when this unit was recommended to me by a colleague. Bought it and it worked instantly with no fuss. Loved it so much, I bought a second one! We use this to connect a camera to OBS for live broadcasting on cable and online. With all the tech hurdles we've faced, this little unit hasn't given us any trouble at all. It's still new to our arsenal so I can't speak to it's longevity, but I'm impressed with its ease of use and quality.

Upgraded to this capture device for live-streaming high school soccer during the pandemic to fans who couldn’t be in attendance. Works great! Highly recommended for all types of use. Easy to follow the game play once we started using this one!

This sorked flawlessly while the intially recommended Pengo HDMI to USB capture did not. Very happy.

This turns any HDMI signal into an easy to use webcam on a modern computer. My 2012 MBP struggles a little with it, but it is really doing most of the hard work. Plug and play.

I have two of these now. One is permanently installed in a local church where I set them up to live stream their Sunday services. It works in conjunction with OBS Studio, taking a feed from the AViPAS 1080-HD PTZ camera and the house audio system. I use a Kramer 590-TXr and 590-RXr HDBaseT system to get the signal 200' from the balcony of the sanctuary of the church into the office and a Lenovo IdeaStation desktop computer. The Kramer system lets me embed line-level audio from the house mixer into the HDMI connection.

This system has been working reliably since late June. Only issues have been with OBS; often times the streaming operator can't hear the house audio because it is muted in OBS - no idea why, but it's an easy enough fix to unmute it locally.

Only negative I would have is that it's not likely you'll come across a USB 3.0 connection that uses the older Type-A connector. Every USB 3.0 port I come across is Type-C. Magewell should just include a Type-A female to Type-C male adapter with every USB Capture HDMI, as you're going to need it anyway.

Expensive for an average user, but if you want high quality and a plug n play HDMI streaming device for traditional school live streaming, Put this in your budget performing arts teachers. I am gonna save up and get another one soon for a backup. Absolutely love it. Great product !!!
