The 55mm, 590nm Infrared Lens Filter from Kolari Vision blocks visible light up to 590nm from the light spectrum. This standard version of the filter features uncoated glass in an aluminum ring threaded on both sides. (The optional pro version has multicoated glass in a slim, knurled brass ring.)

This 590nm version requires a full spectrum modification to be made to your camera in order to function properly. This entails manually removing the camera's low-pass filter and replacing it with a clear filter. Once that's done, the filter will work as intended. (Kolari Vision can make the modification for you at a cost if you send in your camera to them.)

Q: 1. I bought this filter for my new Sony AX-53 after viewing the footage, I see a distinct pink cast. Thinking I may have an incorrect setting, I set the filter/protector option to ON.I shot more footage and there was not difference with the filter/protector setting on or off. I still have the pink tint. My video footage was taken in bright sunlight. It appears that I can remove the tint in post but I'd rather not have to do that. Am I missing something? Thank you.

A: It could be a setting in the camera itself. The AX53 has different picture effects you may want to change. It also could be a white balance setting that is causing a pink cast.
