Q: 1. I have this cable and plugged it into my Sony A74 camera, then attached the Tentacle Sync E Mk2 unit that I used earlier as a slave to accept the master audio timecode signal from my Sound Devices Mix Pre 3 II external audio recorder. So now the Tentacle Sync E Mk2 unit is sending timecode to the camera's left channel. Also I attached a Deity V-Mic D3 Pro to send audio to the camera's right channel and then I recorded a video clip. When I play back the clip on my headphones, I hear audio from both channels, so I'm hearing the loud whir from the timecode signal on the left channel at the same time as the person's voice on the right channel. I would like to find a solution that will allow me to monitor the video/audio take, hearing audio that is synced with the video clip, when I review by playing back the clip in camera. With the Sound Devices Mix Pre 3 II recorder, that high quality .WAV file will be synced later in post. I'm thinking that I would need a pair of headphones with a disabled left channel, so only the right channel is allowed to playback while I review the camera take on set. Can anyone recommend headphones that one can switch off the left channel, or have another solution that will allow a review of the synced audio/video clip on set? Thank you.

A: As you note, the Tentacle Sync 3.5mm Mini-Jack Microphone Y-Cable (12") is sending timecode as audio to the left channel of the camera's audio track. In this case, although rudimentary, the most simple solution would be to only monitor with one side of the headphones, physically removing the side emitting timecode from your ear. There are no suggestions for headphones that allow for disabling audio of one side or the other.

Q: 2. Will there be a smart slate version of this?

A: At this moment, no, Tentacle offers the MovieSlate Pro for iPads though, which would currently be the best option: https://bhpho.to/44amrZ1.

Q: 3. Are there any mounting points or mounting options? 1/4 20 threads ?

A: No, there are no mounting points on the Tentacle Sync Timebar Multipurpose Timecode Display.

Q: 4. Can this work with Tascam 10L mic or any Pyle MEMS 10 over Ear Mic Headset

A: Yes, the Tentacle Sync Lockable 3.5mm Mini Jack for TRACK E can be used for a Tascam DR10L Microphone as well as any other microphone that requires a balanced cable.

Q: 5. Is it compatible with other types of timecode generator? Like the Atomos Ultrasync ONE?

A: The Tentacle Sync Timebar Multipurpose Timecode Display is only compatible via Bluetooth with Tentacle Sync products through the Tentacle Setup App, but you are able to Jam-Sync the device through the 3.5mm jack with other timecode generators such as the Atomos Ultrasync ONE.

Q: 6. I bought this cable and I'm have trouble sending time code from the tentacle to the iPhone. maybe I'm doing it wrong. How exactly does this work? Thanks

A: Tentacle normally works in Bluetooth. I receive time code from the Tentacle by downloading the app. The app reads the TC via Bluetooth. I've never used a cord with my iPhone. Hopefully this helps.

Q: 7. Will this fit the Tentacle Track E ..or just the Tentacle Sync E?

A: The Tentacle Track E is slightly too large to fit into this bracket.

Q: 8. What’s the link for the slate option?

A: The Tentacle Sync Timebar Multipurpose Timecode Display is a "timebar," and there is no slate version of this product from Tentacle. A search for "smart slate," will render the results you're looking for.

Q: 9. Why do I have to buy 5 of these? I only want one for my setup

A: These pouches are sold only in multiples of five.

Q: 10. Does my Track E Tentacle can sync jam Komodo with this?

A: The Tentacle Sync Tentacle to RED KOMODO Adapter Cable can be used to send timecode data to the RED Komodo from the Tentacle Sync, or vice versa. It can be used for jam synchronization.
