This Drop-In 2-in-1 Circular Polarizer + Neutral Density ND Filter for M10-II Filter Holder from Haida combines a solid neutral density filter with a circular polarizer. It is mounted within a drop-in assembly that is made to fit the Haida M10-II Filter Holder. The geared filter ring assembly's external dial allows rotation of the circular polarizer filter to adjust the intensity of its effect.

When in use, this filter's 8x filter factor provides a 3-stop exposure reduction, darkening the entire image, allowing a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. Slowing the exposure time adds blur and a sense of movement to an image; while widening the aperture provides finer control over depth of field to help isolate the subject of an image.

Simultaneously, the circular polarizer component of this filter can reduce reflections, glare, and the haze caused by scattered light. This is extremely beneficial for achieving deeper tones in foliage and water when shooting landscapes, seascapes, and moving water.

The aluminum frame features a geared thumbwheel to rotate the filter to the desired position. The filter is made of optical glass for clarity and color fidelity. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each surface includes 10 layers of anti-reflection coatings. In addition, the Nano coating provides an additional layer for improved beading when the surface comes in contact with water or oil, allowing for easier cleaning.

8x filter factor provides a 3-stop exposure reduction over the entire image area, allowing the use of a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required

Reduced brightness offers finer control over depth of field, for increased bokeh and subject isolation

Longer shutter speeds allow increased image blur, adding to the sense of subject movement

Circular Polarizer reduces reflections and glare

Reduces haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will I need a filter wrench to remove this filter or does it screw on?

A: This filter will be screwed on by hand. Take care not to turn it more than necessary, as it can get stuck if too much force is used.

Q: 2. Can the included 46mm filter (glass only) in this Sigma Circular Polarizer Holder BH #SIAP2900 - MFR #AP2900 be replaced with another 46mm curcular glass polarizer?

A: No, the Sigma filter is specific to the holder.

Q: 3. What is the thickness of this 82mm CPL excluding male threads?

A: 5mm the brass

Q: 4. Can the adapter rings from the (first generation) Haida M10 holder be used with the M10 II System?

A: Yes, the adapter rings from the original Haida M10 Holder can be used with the M10 II System.

Q: 5. What is the thickness of the filter?

A: While Nikon does not publish the thickness of this filter, the ring is thinner to prevent vignetting, particularly on wide angle lenses.

Q: 6. Will the Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter - 58mm fit my Nikon 50mm 1.4D lens, not the 1.4G, but the 1.4D lens? Thanks.

A: Nikon AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4D Lens accepts 52 mm and not 58 mm filters. Please get the Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter (52mm) BH #NICP52 • MFR #2233.

Q: 7. What are the differences between this new Haida M10-II and the original M10 Filter Systems? Are they completely forward and backward compatible?

A: The second generation of Haida's M10 100mm filter holder, the M10-II is upgraded with a nonslip design that allows for easier handling in most weather conditions. It also has a new locking design for quicker attachment to adapter rings. New filter guides snap into place rather than requiring screws to be used as in the predecessor version. Also, a new locking knob will keep the holder in place after it has been rotated, whereas the previous generation did not have a rotation lock. This works with the same holder adapters and filters as the previous generation.

Q: 8. Have anyone used this filter with Nikon AF-S NIKKOR16-35mm f/4G ED VR? Does it cause vignetting at 16mm, 18mm, 20mm or 24mm?

A: I have had no problem with vignetting

Q: 9. What polarize filter would I need for a Nikon DX AF-S 55-300mm f4.5-5.6 G ED?

A: Your lens takes a 58mm filter.

Q: 10. How thick is the frame (excluding the screw in thread portion)?

A: 7/16 AFTER IT HAS BEEN SCREWED INTO THE LENS

I would normally buy a B+W filter but was a little low on cash and needed it quick. Went with the Nikon and am very impressed. I am seriously asking myself why I normally paid so much more for the B+W when this is just as good. Optics and build are excellent. Even on my 16-35 this thing works great. Nikon has never let me down.

A good polarizer with less light loss than some others. I like it for its thin mount (less vignetting) and its front threads, so that I can attach the standard lens cap or a screw-on lens hood. The price is not the cheapest, but not outrageous, either.

Great colours! Yes that is the correct spelling of colour in Canada. Easy to use, lens cap and other filters are easy to attach.

This polarizer is amazing. I shoot landscapes with long exposures that can often cause flare, but this multi-coated filter does an awesome job of resisting flare and ghosting. It's thin to prevent vignetting on my super-wide, and it still has front threads so you can stack an ND onto it if your so inclined. I can't recommend this more. If you've got nice glass and can afford this polarizer, it's the one to get!

I love to use this lens both indoors and outdoors. It brings out the color in everything you shoot. Less time retouching and more time out in the field. This a a must for any photographer.

While I have been using circular polarizing filters for 25+ years, I never really went upscale. Finally, I bought the Nikon CP Glass Filter II and have noticed improved results with color saturation and contrast over my old CP Filter.

A tough fit for a 28-300 zoom. No experienced vignetting or fade...
