Tiffen Glimmerglass Filter (55mm, Grade 1/2)
- Product Code: ga104614

The 55mm Glimmerglass Grade 1/2 Filter from Tiffen is a beauty filter whose function is two-fold: in addition to modifying the appearance of the image itself, it also features a sparkling appearance when viewed from the front, instilling more confidence in the model. The filter itself helps soften skin details, blemishes, and wrinkles. It also produces glowing highlights and a mild reduction in contrast for a more ethereal appearance. The grade 1/2 diffusion provides a very small amount of softening and overall image alteration.
This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting it onto precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Besides focal length, weight, and price, what are the other differences between the Zeis Otus 55 and the Zeis Milvus 50? Specifically, what are the optical considerations? And are there any issues with adapting to Sony NEX cameras like the FS700 and F7?
A: Look at the 14 minute video attached/linked in the overview section. The Zeiss Rep' explains the difference between Zeiss' Milvus and Otus lenses. He explains the optical design for the Otus in plain, simple terms.
Q: 2. Can anyone share their experience using the Zeiss Otus 55mm with a Canon 5DSR?
A: Yes. Works fine. Top end camera, top end lens, top end result. Use tripod, cable release etc. Any more specific question? In case you wonder, Focusingscreen dot com now has the S-type screen available for the 5Ds. Just received the first prototype of the new screen.
Q: 3. Is this lens made in Germany?
A: The ZEISS Otus 55mm f/1.4 ZF.2 Lens for Nikon F is manufactured in Japan.
Q: 4. What lens adapter do I need to use for Sony FX6 camera?
A: The ZEISS Otus 55mm f/1.4 ZF.2 Lens for Nikon F is a manual lens. So a good Manual adapter that works with E mount cameras would be this one, https://bhpho.to/3GAsMTX .
Q: 5. Does this lens have the focus confirmation chip that will allow the camera to know when focus has been achieved?
A: Yes, the lens features a focus confirmation chip to indicate when the subject is in focus with the camera. - Yossi
Q: 6. Canon focus screens
A: There are no interchangeable focus screens for the 5dmkiii. There is a focus confirmation beep with the center af point. If you have a eos1-n, 1-v, eos 3, or even a 5d up to mkii, they all accept the same screens. There is a split image/ microprism Fresnel (Ec-B) that would be helpful for those cameras; it is sold by B&H, but it is on backorder now. With 5dmkii just use af confirmation, or shoot in Live View and magnify to confirm focus. The microprism fresnel's are all in the Center anyway so it's the same deal. Wide open handheld with a figity subject is a tough. This lens is a powerful tool, but it does take a certain dedication to work with it. The results are worth the effort. Good luck!
Q: 7. If I made an order today, is there an estimated time to receive it? Thanks.
A: If you were to order this lens today a realistic time to receive it would be 6-8 weeks.
Q: 8. Does this lens have auto-focus capability?
A: No, the Zeiss Otus line of lenses are strictly manual focus lenses, as would be the Zeiss Otus 55mm f/1.4 ZF.2 Lens for Nikon F.
Q: 9. DOES THIS LENS WORKS WITH A CAMARA D3X AND COULD THE AUTO FOCUS AS WELL ? THANK YOU,REGARDS,SERGIO PAZOS.
A: 13)The Zeiss 55mm f/1.4 Otus Distagon T* Lens for Nikon F Mount is compatible with All Nikon DSLRs, including the D3X. The lens is a manual focus lens, meaning that it needs to be manually focused, autofocus will not be supported.
Q: 10. Does this lens have CPU coupling which provides aperture, program AE priority, aperture priority, shutter priority or manual exposure settings on camera models equipped with an electronic interface as my D800E ? Thank you.
A: Yes, this lens has CPU coupling, and will communicate the distance and metering. However, it will only focus manually.
