AA batteries are available everywhere. I use the MIC 014 omni-directional microphone and place the transmitter in the center of the room or table. Everyone is facing the unit and clarity is enhanced over my hearing aids. With the MIC 014 range is decreased to about 25 ft radius but adequate for a large room.
