The 77mm, 2-density Antique Black Pearlescent Filter from Tiffen makes skin tones warmer and uses a black pearlescent component to maintain deep blacks while preserving shadow detail, especially in the face. The result is a softer image without excessive halation or loss of contrast.

The filter features glass optics and an aluminum ring threaded on both sides. It's made using the ColorCore process, which laminates the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, and then grinds and polishes them to a precise tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch of flatness.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. A previous response states this filter is compatible with a 17mm lens. Will it also work (and not cause vignetting) on the canon RF 14-35mm at 14mm on full frame?

A: The Canon RF 14-35mm f/4 L IS USM Lens (B&H # CA1435RF) is designed with a filter thread and should work well with the B+W 77mm MRC Basic Circular Polarizing Filter.

Q: 2. I'm thinking in buying this CPL for my Zeiss Batis 2/25 - Is it hard to clean or take care? i do street photography in New York City - would a CPL be useful for the type of photos i capture? -Thanks!

A: The ZEISS filters are the best and with any filter requires care like your camera equipment so always use a microfiber cloth with bottled water prior to you shoot. You can always remove dust during processing in PS. Use this filter for shooting water and glass to remove reflections and it will bring out all colors but you can get the deep colors in processing. ZEISS optics are the best. When you use this filter you need to adjust it to the darkest point or your colors will not come out.

Q: 3. Is this filter for nikon lens?

A: The filter is for a lens with a 95mm opening....I purchased it for my Zeiss lens

Q: 4. Does this have a very noticeable color shift?

A: B+W 67mm MRC Basic Circular Polarizing Filter does not have noticeable color shift.

Q: 5. For this 52mm filter--is the front thread diameter also 52mm? Thanks!

A: The front thread is 52mm.

Q: 6. Does the bag endure rain okay?

A: The ONA The Leather Clifton Camera and Everyday Backpack is made of canvas and full grain leather. This backpack will endure a little bit of rain, and features a life time warranty. To make the bag more water resistant one would apply some canvas wax bar: https://bhpho.to/2M9Fqi3

Q: 7. Can you tell me the total thickness of the B+W 43mm MRC Basic Circular Polarizing Filter, please?

A: B+W 43mm MRC Basic Circular Polarizing Filter is 6.5mm thick without messuring the threads. With the threads the filter has a total height of 9.5mm.

Q: 8. Is there any place to keep a water bottle on the outside of the bag?

A: You can fit a small water bottle on the side of this bag however we would not recommend it due to the material.

Q: 9. Does this work with a Canon R5 24-105 lens (77mm) - and if so, can I screw it into the UV-Haze filer that I keep on this lens for protection?

A: Yes, the PolarPro 77mm QuartzLine Circular Polarizer Filter will work with a Canon 24-105mm lens; any 77mm filter will adapt to a Canon 24-105mm lens. We highly suggest using slim-profile filters to avoid vignetting issues.

Q: 10. Are there any pros and cons between this Zeiss CP and a B+W Kaesemann CP?

A: I second the last reviewer. I have purchased and used both. Despite having a brass ring, the B+W has stuck to my lens thread. I even have a 72mm C-Pol filter by B+W with out of round adjustment ring. The worst part is that the polarizing film even has specks of dust trapped on the underside and mildly lifted at a small part of the edge (which I wasnt expecting for a Kaesmann). And there is even a part where the polarizing film was not even timed to meet the metal ring, leaving a micro gap prone to light leakage. Very disappointing for a B+W filter, given the price point. Otherwise, the optical quality was great. I have had mostly good luck with B+W filters except for this 72mm C-Pol and another 6-point star filter. Probably a QC issues at Schneider. The Zeiss is something else. The quality and craftsmanship are in a different league. The first thing you will notice when you open the package is the quality of the packaging. The filter comes out dust-free, a strong indication of a high-end facility from where it is produced. Dont be fooled by the aluminum ring. It easily tops all B+W filters I have ever used in terms of ease of attachment and removal. The machining of the threading is so precise it prevents any sticking at all. I have had zero issues in this regard. Optically, it is definitely no worse than B+W. but I dont know if it is better. QC is top notch just like any Zeiss products. Dont be discouraged by the fact that the Zeiss filter is made in Japan. Japanese are equally proud of their craftsmanship as their German counterparts. The extra cost is definitely worth the quality. All my future filters will be Zeiss.
