The Tiffen 39mm UV Protector Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Tiffen makes good glass, and this is no exception. I use this on my lens most of the time, for protection. Good quality glass.

I am so glad I had this filter on my newest lens because the lens cap was put on incorrectly and the filter shattered. I'm not sure how it happened, but I'm just thankful it was only a lens filter that I had to replace after that, and not a lens!

I own pretty much every brand of UV filter, and Tiffen is great. I've never had an issue. Cheaper filters can be too shallow for your lens cap to grab, and they will also change color on you or lose their finish. If you bought a nice lens, buy a nice filter.

I bought this product for use on my Canon Vixia HF S11 just for a little piece of mind to help keep dust and debris off the actual lens.

Your basic protection for any lens. How can you not buy a cheap filter when you are spending so much more on a camera and lens?

I would rather clean a filter then the lens element. I shoot nature so moisture and dust are around.
