Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens work perfectly with panasonic bodies? For example, the fn botton, pull down focus ring, auto focusing speed and image quality.

A: The Oly lens will certainly mount on the Panasonic camera and meter perfectly. The image quality depends on the sensor size and your ability to control the camera functions for best quality. I don't know if the bells and whistles of the Oly lens will work or not. I hate to let your local camera store be the local showroom for B&H, as many are these days, but possibly the salesman would help you try it on a body. (I wouldn't mention for an instant that you were going to purchase through mail-order in order to get B&H's superior return policy and rock-bottom prices--it always seems to antagonize the salesman).Frankly, my local camera store does not have as good a return/service policy as B&H, in addition to charging full MSRP for items...

Q: 2. Does it fit with no adapter ring to the em1X?

A: This lens has a Micro 4/3 mount, so it can fit directly to the OM-D E-M1X.

Q: 3. How is this lens for night orastro photography?

A: Very good lens

Q: 4. Will this lens fit the E-M5iii body?

A: Yes it will!

Q: 5. I just got this lens- put it on 2 of my m43 Panasonic bodies- but even in AF mode in the camera the lens is only acting as a MF lens..is it faulty or do I need to do something else to get AF working?

A: First check to make sure that the manual focus (push-pull) ring on the lens is in the forward position (away from the camera body). I've been using this lens on a GX8 and a GX85 without any issues, either in auto-focus mode or in manual focus mode. This lens auto-focuses very quickly.

Q: 6. Is it possible to use an ND filter with this lens? If so, What would I need to buy? I hear there is not thread to screw on a filter

A: At this time, using filters with this lens is not an option. Perhaps there will be filter holders designed for the lens after its release, but no manufacturers have an option for the lens at this time.

Q: 7. Does this lens zoom internally? Meaning does the barrel of the lens extend when zoomed?

A: The lens zooms internally with the front element moving within the lens shade. It is a quite bulbous element though so it does require a little care in use. Its a very sharp lens, and Ive been very happy with the purchase.

Q: 8. How does this lens work with a Panasonic GH4? How does it compare to the Panasonic 7-14?

A: This is a standard MFT mount so will work fine with the GH4. the Zuiko 7-14 is a fabulous lens! Super sharp corner to corner, fast f 2.8. I'm loving it. I have not used the Panasonic 7-14 so I suggest you read Gordon Laing's reviews at Camerlabs about these two lenses for in-depth evaluation to help you decide.

Q: 9. Does this lens feature the same clutched focus ring for hard stops and repeatable focus in video and filmmaking as its 12-40 f2.8 brethren?

A: Yes, the focus ring works the same way as the 12-40 f2.8

Q: 10. What is the best way to clean the ZERO coated lens such as this? Especially since a filter cannot be placed on it.

A: I called Olympus tech support. Any photographic lens cleaning solution can be used. Use a microfiber cloth and spray one corner of the cloth with cleaning solution. DO NOT spray the cleaning solution directly on the lens. Starting in the middle of the lens, rub the corner that has been wetted with the solution in a circular motion out toward the periphery of the lens. Repeat the motion with the dry portion of the microfiber cloth. Use a light touch with the cloth at all times to avoid trapping any debris against the lens and scoring it accidentally.I usually used a blower to puff some air on the lens to clean off as much dust and loosely adhered debris prior to using any cleaning solution. It may be that you won't need to use the cloth/cleaning solution at all.

I have used this product with my Olympus E-520 camera, not a expert, but I do like how light and small the lens is. Great bang for the buck. easy to use and takes great pictures for me (novice photographer).

Only been using it for a week but love how fast it focuses and how balanced it feels on my E620 with HLD-5 battery pack. The 24-120mm equivalent focal length range with good close focus capability make it the ideal carry everywhere lens.

I purchased an Olympus Pen, E-P2. The Olympus Pen is a micro 4/3 camera that came with a 14-42 kit lens. For 90% of photographic situations, this combination provided me with excellent results. But, there are areas where flash photography is prohibited. Ergo I wanted a little faster lens. With an adapter, the MM2 from Olympus, the camera will mount and utilize this lens (as well as any other current Olympus lens). What this lens does on the E-P2 is amazing. Focusing is very fast, faster than the kit lens. Pictures are clear, crisp, and detailed from edge to edge. This is one fine lens. I can recommend this lens without reservation.

We use this lens for portraits and low-light shooting where we control the aperture. While it takes a bit of getting use to, especially for those who aren't used to working without a zoom or manual apertures, it is well worth the cost!

I bought this lens together with an E-620 (view separate review). All I have to say is WOW!! The sharpness and color rendition are out of this world. The auto focus is lightning quick. It is a reasonably fast lens. It focuses very close. It is made in JAPAN - makes a big difference in optical quality. Olympus makes excellent digital cameras, but if I had to pick one reason to buy an Olympus DSLR it would be to have access to this absolutely superb lens. This is my first DSLR. For the past ten years I have been shooting with a fully manual Nikon and my primary lens was a Nikon 24-120, exactly the same range as this lens. The Nikon is a great lens, this one is better.

After two years of switching to the four-thirds system, this lens continues to be the primary go to not only for its performance but also its flexbility. IQ is well-documented as excellent and my personal experience is the same. If you have not yet upgraded from the kit lenses included with your E-420/510/620/etc, I strongly recommend you take a look at this lens. You will NOT be disappointed.
