Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is the extender IP based? is it able to be fed through a switch in its own VLAN? or does it have to be a direct connection on both ends?

A: My assumption is that it would need to be a direct connection. I have not tried it on a vlan. Based on the information on their site, it would need to be directly connected, as it seems to encode the signal and send it over the copper to be decoded at the other end by the receiver.

Q: 2. what is the max resolution that this will support?

A: This for HDMI, I.E 1080p.

Q: 3. What type of power supply is shipped with the device? Is is a normal DC wall pack, or is it the PS-1202?

A: It is a wall-wart style DC power adapter.

Q: 4. Can this plug directly into my Verizon cable box, or do I need to also purchase a receiver?

A: It is designed to be used with a separate repeater, like this: Kramer PT-5T and PT-5R IR Extender & Repeater B&H # KRPT5RT MFR # PT-5R/T.

Q: 5. Will this support 1920x1200?

A: System Range : 1080i,1080p, at different distances and BC-DGKat 524.

Q: 6. Will this work with another brand of transmitter? In other words, are there different protocols or a standard one for converting signals?

A: Sorry, but the Kramer HDMI over Twisted Pair Receiver B&H # KRPT572P can only be used with a dkgat product like the VM-114H4C, VM-1H4C or pt-571.

Q: 7. Please, how many units can be attached in daisy chain?

A: In theory, until you run into a device that no longer meets the HDCP negotiation or until you run out of keys to negotiate. That said, there is a limit to how much distance you'll get on a particular type of cable. For the most distance, you need shielded cat6 or better.

Q: 8. Does this unit pass HDR also?

A: No HDR pass-through is defined on this product.

Q: 9. Is there any audio delay or sync issues with audio and video?

A: There should be no audio delay or sync issues with this unit. It also will have a very low latency.

Q: 10. will this work to plug into my ir extender kit to receive the cable remote signal?

A: It might work, but some of those will only work with their own receivers. But this one can be plugged directly into your cable box if it has a jack for remote IR. If that is too far away, you can extend it with just a 3.5mm headphone extension cord.
