Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this Kramer transmitter compatible with other HDBaseT receivers, such as a DL-HDE100 unit from Liberty AV?

A: Yes, the Kramer 4K60 HDMI-over-HDBaseT 1-Gang Wall Plate Transmitter with PoE/RS-232/IR (White/Black) would be compatible with other HDBaseT (HDBT) receivers like the Digitalinx HDMI, IR, RS-232, & Ethernet Extender Kit over CATx with Power Supply (330'), B&H # DIDLHDE100.

Q: 2. Does this product work for POE video cameras?

A: Yes, the Kramer 100' CAT6a HDBaseT Cable (Blue) is a good cable to use with PoE cameras.

Q: 3. what is the max resolution that this will support?

A: This for HDMI, I.E 1080p.

Q: 4. How important is shielded cable? I'm wondering about our existing unshielded 250ft cat6 run.

A: Shelled cables are recommended as they will help protect against any potential power surges when connected to the Kramer TP-580TXR Extended Range HDBaseT Twisted Pair Transmitter, but they are not required.

Q: 5. Will this work with a vga signal?

A: This model is made for HDMI specifically.

Q: 6. Please, how many units can be attached in daisy chain?

A: In theory, until you run into a device that no longer meets the HDCP negotiation or until you run out of keys to negotiate. That said, there is a limit to how much distance you'll get on a particular type of cable. For the most distance, you need shielded cat6 or better.

Q: 7. Can this cable handle 4K UHD A/V (for use with a 4K BlueRay DVD)?

A: Yes, the Kramer 75' CAT6a HDBaseT Cable can carry a 4K video signal.

Q: 8. is the extender IP based? is it able to be fed through a switch in its own VLAN? or does it have to be a direct connection on both ends?

A: My assumption is that it would need to be a direct connection. I have not tried it on a vlan. Based on the information on their site, it would need to be directly connected, as it seems to encode the signal and send it over the copper to be decoded at the other end by the receiver.

Q: 9. Can I use this device as HDMI extender over cat6 to get picture from cable box and ir extender to control a cable box?

A: That should be possible. This HDBaseT Transmitter and Receiver set is HDCP complaint, which is necessary for it to work with a cable box. It also can extend IR over the Cat6 cable.

Q: 10. is the extender IP based? is it able to be fed through a switch in its own VLAN? or does it have to be a direct connection on both ends?

A: It is not IP traffic, it is HDbaseT over ethernet cable. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDBaseT
