one switch locks the magic arm locks it in place. its little bit hard to lock it in place and i wish it was lighter.

Before I was offput by the price point, but after receiving it, I am very happy.


The build quality is incredibly high, and there is absolutely no slipping or downward drift with my camera, lens, and flash attached (total weight approximately 1900 grams).


The clamp is well engineered, and it stays put on both my table top as well as any pole (monitor mount, tripod, or otherwise) that I've tried to attach it to, while not damaging any of the surface.


The articulating arm is very tight, but it does take some getting used to when positioning it. When you release the tension, every joint freely moves, and it's taken some time for me to get used to the juggling act of getting the arm held in the right spot _and_ the camera point in the right direction.


The tripod base that's included in this kit is probably the single least awesome part that's included, though, it is very functional... But I've decided I'm going to keep this in my bag (the larger bag) and only touch it for special use cases; under normal circumstances I'll use my dedicated tripods over the included base.


Finally, if you do not already have a hot swappable shoe for your camera, I recommend that you grab one for this kit, as the screw on the camera mount is functional--but it's tedious when you take your camera off your magic arm kit.


I am disappointed that the arms are a little short~approximately 10? or so inches. In my situation I could use an extra 2-4 inches for each fo the two arms, but that's definitely not a deal breaker.


With that said, I will probably buy another set of these just to help my particular studio needs.

Heavy duty... holds all kindsa stuff from boom poles to lights...

I got this to mount a 10 inch LCD monitor to my tripod or light stand when needed. Works wonderfully for that purpose and I can see a bunch of other uses for the additional parts. Typical Manfrotto build quality with the small exception of the handle on the clamp. It's made out of plastic and not ratcheting. I guess I'm just spoiled with the rest of my Manfrotto gear. Great product and totally worth the money!

Good to use for situations where a typical light stand is too large or inconvenient. The super clamp is very handy for mounting a light source in unconventional places. The product is very durable and easy to use with unlimited creative possibilities.

I got this because I needed to suspend a camera from a C-stand, but I've already used it in a variety of other ways, clamping lights and using the light stand on it's own with a flexible rod. It's versatile and let's me make the most out of the situation.

I can't imagine how I went all this time in the video world without owning one of these. It'll hold a production monitor, small light, small camera and about a million other things, just about anywhere you want to stick it. WOW. This makes Noga arms look flimsy and worthless, and I've owned tons of those!

we used the Magic Arm in a cooking demo for an overhead camera...... it is very easily adjustable to any angle desired.....excatly what i needed

i've used it the second it arrived. needed a lower angel for my lights and the magic arm did it for me. its flexibility and built quality is the main reason why i fell in love with it. planning to get a couple more for my other lights & camera.

These mounting arms are strong, rugged, and easy to use. They can be angled anyway you want, and they adapt easily to different shooting situations. Great for steady zoom shooting.
