The Radial Engineering Relay Xo Balanced Remote AB Switcher is a balanced audio switcher with one XLR input and two XLR outputs designed to route the output of a microphone to two different audio inputs. This enables a vocalist to switch his mic between the main PA system and the monitors for discreet communication, especially important for artists that employ in-ear monitors. You can also use the Relay Xo to send the output of a microphone to two channels on the PA. The first channel could be set dry to speak to the audience between sets, while the second channel could be set wet with reverb and echo to enhance the voice. This enables the vocalist to control effects and deliver a more professional performance.

The Relay Xo features a balanced XLR input and two balanced XLR outputs. The audio signal path is a passive wire with no transformers or electronic buffers inside that could introduce distortion or color the tone. The unit employs military-grade, gold-contact sealed relays to do the switching, making it suitable for both mic- and line-level signals. Switching may be done using the side-access pushbutton switch or by remote control via the XLR-1/4" combo jack, using either the Radial JR1-L latching or JR1-M momentary footswitch (not included). A remote link enables multiple units to be used in tandem.

Q: 1. Would this work with the Portastudio 488?

A: No, this is a special jack that only fits newer recorders, like the DP-32SD or DR-40.

Q: 2. Does the EQ effect the overall output, or just the mic or laptop audio?

A: The EQ controls on the Radial Engineering Presenter Mixer affect the microphone signal only.

Q: 3. Will this work on the GT2 guitar trainer?

A: No, the unit was designed to be used with the RC-30P footswitch.Since the TASCAM RC-30P is no longer manufactured (with no replacement), any momentary closure, NO (normally open) foot-switch using a 1/4 phono plug can be used.Examples: * BOSS FS-5U* M-AUDIO SP-1Thank you for your interest in TASCAM products.

Q: 4. since this is passive, does it only output mic level? Or can the outputs also be Line level?

Q: 5. Does this unit work standalone or does it have to be used with the Broadcast Press Box?

A: This broadcast audio splitter can be used a stand-alone unit, and only requires a balanced XLR input from a mixing board or other source. .

Q: 6. Would these be effective in a car racing environment like watching a formula one race from the grandstands?

A: Yes, the Otto Engineering NoizeBarrier Micro Rechargeable Electronic Earplug Kit could be used in an environment such as Forumula 1 spectating. The NoizeBarrier kit provides between 15 and 40 dB of noise reduction depending on the mode used, while also allowing softer environmental noise to be heard and even amplified.

Q: 7. How long does the battery last?

A: There is no indication provided for the life expectancy of the 3V CR 1220 lithium battery provided to power the LED light on the Kopul MuteMate 2x2 Momentary Microphone Mute/Talk Switch. Due to its simple, non-demanding functionality it would be estimated to last through a significant amount of use.

Q: 8. Could this unit be used to split clearcom or rts units?

A: This unit is meant to split audio only, and is wired differently than communication systems. We do carry a splitter for RTS, which is the Telex TW-5W 1 In, 5 Out Splitter Box, B&H # TETW5W.

Q: 9. When using a microphone with phantom power, does pop noise occur (when pressing or release the button)?

A: The Kopul MuteMate 2x2 Momentary Microphone Mute/Talk Switch should not present a "pop" sound when used with a condenser microphone and phantom power.

Q: 10. Reviews mentions that the power adapter is for UK plugs and that a converter is necessary. Is that true?

A: No. The external power supply included with the BOSS RC-505MK2 Loop Station that we sell is intended for use in North America.
