My computers are in one room and all the hard drives, servers, etc., are in another room. I wanted a high speed cable to connect a USB 3 HDD dock to an iMac. Researching, I found that an 'active' cable was key to getting a reliable high speed connection to devices more than a few meters away. I haven't tried any other brands, but this cable has worked great. Speeds from a Transcend card reader are as fast as if the reader is connected directly to the Mac. The female end is a little bulky, but it's hidden away. Cable seems well made and sturdy while still being flexible enough to route easily. 5

Works quite well with my EOS 5D MkII and Darktable running on Linux. Well built, the USB connectors keep firmly attached event without the JerkStopper Extension Lock. Communication loss may happen occasionally but not more than with the original Canon cable alone. I like the color ;-) 5
