Great price for a collar a quarter the price of Canon's. Was a 15 second install, locks down well and holds tight. My Manfrotto quick release plate mounts perfectally to the base. I'll be using my lens mostly hand held, but this is an easier way to hand hold and make any adjustments to the camera or lens. Highly recommend this ring, fits my lens perfectly.

A heavy lens such as the Canon EF 70-300mm lens must have a Tripod Collar for safety and stability. The Fotodiox Collar is a high quality, precision collar that fits perfectly, yet allows the lens to be rotated in the collar. And it costs far less than the equivalent Canon item. Choosing it is what they call a no-brainer.

Don't believe the negative reviews on this Fotodiox tripod mount. It is designed to permit the camera to be rotated easily for horizontal or vertical shooting; but clamps securely for picture taking. There were no instructions on how to do this (probably because it is so easy to do). There are red dots on the knob and body of the mount that you line up. You pull out the knob to open or close the ring. When the ring is initially closed the camera can be rotated. Turn the knob clockwise until it stops and the camera is held securely. My only issue was that it turns so easily; but Canon's own C tripod mount may be exactly the same. The color isn't an exact match but for 1/4 the price I got a steal. Don't spend four times as much because some people are not mechanically inclined. This is a great product. There is no scraping of metal on rotating as some people reported. They probably didn't loosen the ring first (dummies).

This is just as satisfactory as canon and alot less expensive it works great.

Strong and easy install with reasonable cost.

It feels solid and balanced well enough on my 7D, fits the lens snugly, i feel not slipping at all. Appreciate the extra safety on the knob that the lens won't fall out. Price is very good value.

My first examination of this Fotodiox lens color reveals that it is well made and fits properly on the 70-300L as designed. the fit and finish is just as good as the Fotodiox products I have previously purchased.

It is felt or fabric lined, has a safety catch so it can not work loose and fits very snugly. What more could you ask of a tripod collar??

I didn't want to spend a fortune on a tripod collar, so I was glad to find this one. I saw some reviews saying that the off brand collars were no good. I have not had any trouble with this one. Stays tight on the lens. I would recommend it and buy it again if I needed to.

After reading the reviews of this item, I admit I was concerned about the quality of this collar. But I felt confidence in B&H's return policy in the event that this item did not meet my expectations. Upon receipt, I inspected it and found that it was well made, of strong metal, and had felt strips on the interior. Best of all, it locked securely on to the barrel of my Canon 70-300 f4 L lens, without any looseness or rotation of the barrel/camera when mounted on my tripod. This collar is a good investment compared to the Canon collar at over 4X the price.
