Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The FLM CB-18 18mm Ballhead is rated to support 13.2 lbs. Has anyone used it with a full-frame DSLR?

A: Yes, I have used it with Nikon D4 and 24-70mm f2.8 lens, 70-200mm f4 and holds very good.

Q: 2. Would the peak design base plate on my camera fit this clamp?

A: The FLM 55GX Centerball Tripod Head with SRB-60 QR Clamp takes Arca-Type compatible plates. So yes, a Peak Design Quick Release plate such as the Peak Design PL-S-3 Standard Plate will work.

Q: 3. Is able to hold Manfrotto RC2 plate ?

A: As the RC2 is not Arca-compatible, it will not work with the FLM QLB-80 Quick Release Clamp.

Q: 4. Will this clamp modify a FLM CB-32 head to have a Quick Disconnect system?

A: Hi,Yes it will, but you should observe that the safety pin is for FLM plates and not necessarily compatible with other Area-Swiss plates. I own a RSS L-plate for the Oly OM-D E-MII and the pin is annoying. Perhaps the pin could be knocked out. You could also consider a RSS QR instead. Google that combination. Either way you should apply a locking glue to keep it securely in place. FLM has a guide for that.

Q: 5. Is the female 1/4 ( where the head attaches to the light stand or similar)?

A: The base and the top mount are both 1/4 20 threads. It would have to be attached to a light stand with a 1/4 20 thread.

Q: 6. What is the base diameter of this ball head?

A: We measured the FLM CB-18E at 30.5mm / 1.201".

Q: 7. How many screws are in this package?

A: This item will only be one screw per package.

Q: 8. What is the diameter of the ball?

A: The ball sphere diameter of the FLM 55GX Centerball Tripod Head is 2.2" or 55 mm.

Q: 9. I want to attach this unit to a Giotto QU305 mini tripod. Do I need an adapter to attach? It seems both units are 1/4 . Or, am I wrong?. Please advise

A: You can attach the CB-18E Centerball Head to the Giotto QU305 mini tripod: they have the same thread size.

Q: 10. What is the spacing of the bottom mount holes in millimeters? Curious if this can be direct-mounted to Arri plates.

A: The FLM QLB-80 quick release clamp has each of the mounting points spaced 12mm apart.

I needed something I could see clearly and I could use with the monopod. The tripod has it built in but I am often shooting without it. This little wonder fits in the smallest of bags. It is now, along with my adjustable ND filter, a permanent part of m =y "grab-n-go" kit.

I wanted a small, light weight tripod to take on walks in order to take close-up photos of flowers and bugs. The FLM CP-10 with a ballhead attached allows me to take these photos and the tripod and ballhead are so light that I don't even notice the weight in my pack.

My first one was stolen, no hesitation buying a second one...

I paired this tripod with a light-weight Joby ball head that I had around and took it backpacking. While light-weight enough to lug over some pretty steep mountain passes, the setup held an EOS 60D body + 70-300 mm f/5.6 lens at full extension with no problem. The individually adjustable legs make it easy to obtain a stable configuration on an uneven surface such as a rock.

The fit-and-finish is top-notch. Strong yet light with legs that are independently adjustable for any surface.
Matches well with a Really Right Stuff BH-25 LR ball head or any iPhone grip clamp.

The legs are even better than the Really Right Stuff TFA-01, although not as compact. I take this and the TFA-01 on all photo trips.

An amazing solution for fixing legs. And although I don't like the heads of the FLM (well ... that’s my opinion)), this tripod is brilliant. It's just nice to use such a cleverly made thing.
