Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I document longer hikes over technical terrain that require my hands to be free but frequent use of my camera. Can anyone tell me if this would be compatible with also wearing a lightweight backpack? Also, is there any awkwardness if shooting in portrait mode? Thanks!

A: Hello Shaun, you should not experience an issue. I use the strap attached to a 70-200mm lens and have tried both portrait and landscape modes. I also used it with a shoulder strap with a lens and a second camera and did not experience any issue or discomfort. I hope this helps.

Q: 2. I already own a RS sport that put my camera on my right side. Would I encounter problems if I wear this at the same time on the other shoulder for assignments where I need 2 cameras?

A: I have never tried it but I think it would work. I use a BlackRapid Double regularly when I need to hang two cameras and I am very happy with it - it avoids crossed straps which you will have with the setup you asked about. The BlackRapid Yeti is another solution, allowing a one or two camera setup without cross straps. Bottom line is that I believe your proposed setup will work even if not as neat as the other two that I just wrote about for two camera situations. Good luck!

Q: 3. Is there an option for left handers?

A: This strap can be purchased for left handed use. I recommend it highly. Easy to shoot quickly, and easy on the shoulder when using a heavy camera.

Q: 4. Can it be used with BlackRapid Delta Sling?

A: The BlackRapid Underarm Stabilizer for Select Sport X Series Slings is incompatible with the BlackRapid Delta Camera Sling Strap (Black).

Q: 5. Will this strap work with both sides of the double harness or just the right handed side??

A: This can be used on both sides.

Q: 6. would this could be used to add-on to the original blackRapid? thus hold the belt in place and not rolling around?

A: I contacted the manufacturer concerning your inquiry. According to BlackRapid, the BlackRapid Underarm Stabilizer for Select Sport X Series Slings will not fit the old model (original BlackRapid) straps, nor do they have any of the old model replacement underarm straps in stock any longer, as they have been out of production for several years. Unfortunately, they also do not have any similar accessory that is compatible with the old model (original BlackRapid) straps.

Q: 7. Has anyone used this to support a lens? I want to connect it to a super telephoto lens instead the bottom of my camera

A: Absolutely. We recommend attaching the BlackRapid straps to heavier telephoto lenses rather than the camera body. For added security, use the BlackRapid safety tether (available here: https://bhpho.to/3A4goVc) if your lens has a tethering/mounting strap point.

Q: 8. I take my camera on long hikes, usually over 2 miles, photographing birds. Sometimes the terrain is rough and I fear that the BR strap will allow the camera to bounce away from my body and back striking my hip.Should I worry about a sore hip?

A: When I use this particular strap I tend to have my hand on the camera so it does not swing and I have never had a problem with impact on my hip. I am traveling to Africa in late October and I will be hiking in some tough terrain and I need my hands free during the hike. Based on this I am using the double spider holster set up. I did a similar hike last weekend and used the spider holster to hold two cameras with large lenses and it worked great and id not swing or move much during the hike. At the same time I was ready to take pictures at any time.

Q: 9. Whats the Difference between the Curve Breathe and this ?

A: The sport has more padding and is wider.

Q: 10. Does anyone know if the strap opens up so you can swap out the camera connector with a different system? I want to use the Promediagear SS2p1 Plug connector instead of BlackRapids carbineer type system.

A: The Black Rapid FR-5 Fasten R Breathe attachment can be separated from the carbineer on the end of this strap so you can utilize the SS2p1 Plug Connector.

I don't write review often but do read them. I nearly did not buy this for my Canon 7D Mk II because of reading some of the negative reviews. I decided to go for it anyway and glad I did, Honestly, I don't understand what some others were talking about. Out of the box this is terrific. The only (slight) confusion I had was figuring out how to wear it as the instructions were a little hard to follow. however after a couple times practising on/off my body it's VERY EASY. As for the functionality, it's exactly as the video (Mfr website). This is SO MUCH better than the strap supplied by Canon. Very comfortable over the shoulder. I highly recommend this strap.

Very comfortable strap that I can use with a backpack. The new design fixes the issue with the side strap under arm that several reviewers mentioned. No issues with the camera attachment although I do use the extra security strap. I look forward to my next national park hiking adventure. Overall no regrets and wish I bought it sooner.

Si bien no es una correa económica, el equipo que sostiene es 100 veces más caro. Asi que vale la pena invertir en una buena correa para asegurarte que el equipo no se caerá. Además de que los materiales y terminaciones son de excelente calidad

I had an early version of this strap which I still use for my personal use. The only problem I have with it was the auxiliary strap. The attachment hook would come unclipped from the shoulder pad. If the other end wasn't buckled, the strap would fall off without me knowing it and get lost. This happened twice and I retrieved it. The third time it was lost forever.

This new design has a snap retaining clip on the hook that will prevent this from happening. Thanks to Black Rapid for their continued improvements to their products. I highly recommend all their products, especially this one.

Makes it practical and comfortable to carry camera with long lens in a way that makes it quickly accessible . I wouldn't use it for long or rough hikes, but for rambling around taking bird photographs it works very well. I'm using it with a Kirk QD Quick Disconnect Push Button Swivel-D QD connector instead of the included connector for extra confidence and convenience. Note that the underarm strap (brad) is optional if you want to save weight and space in your bag and don't find it essential.
