The Leica BP-SCL7 is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for the M11 rangefinder camera. It has an 1800mAh capacity with an output voltage of 7.4V and is designed to provide power for approximately 700 shots when working with live view or approximately 1700 shots if solely working with the optical viewfinder. The BP-SCL7 can be recharged with the BC-SCL7 Battery Charger.

The battery works fine. It does take some time to fully charge the battery using the external charger, but I like the higher capacity of the battery. Also, the price came down which make it even better. 5

Great replacement from the BP-SCL6. More power, last longer, easier to charge and all this at a lower price than the SCL4. I was going to buy two, but I don’t need to now. 5

No surprises here. It's a battery, it works fine (in the Q3 which originally included a BP-SCL6, and in an SL2 and SL2-S which came with BP-SCL4 batteries but can use the BP-SCL6 for a bit longer battery life). There exist firmware updates for the cameras which originally shipped with BP-SCL4 batteries which purport to help them work optimally with the BP-SCL6; I'm not sure what they improve, but it seems sensible to stay up to date on firmware, especially if you're swapping in an uprated battery. 5

Increasing the capacity makes the battery more usable. You need this for an 8K video in Q3. 5

I was worried I ordered the original BP-SCL4 when I saw the 7.2V on the box. I don't know if the voltage matters but I wanted to make sure I didn't mess up my expensive equipment. The model number and mfg number on the box received line up with the detail page so I'm not sure why the voltage difference in the B&H listing and on Leica's site. Posted a photo incase anyone comes across this. There is a difference in Watt Hours listed on the actual batteries. The BP-SCL6 says 16Wh and the BP-SCL4 says 14Wh. I'm just happy it works and charged in the Leica BC-SCL4 and powers up fine in my Leica SL2 with the 5.1 firmware. Its hard to tell how much better without doing a deep side by side comparison which I don't plan too and just will assume its got the larger capacity. 5

No issues at all. Generally the battery lasts about a half day of shooting on the Q3 with automatic shutoff after 5 mins with no activity. 5

So perhaps I was too quick to judge. I was having horrible battery life issues with my SL2-S and then I discovered that bluetooth was ON, which is fine, but not when Auto Wakeup is also ON. With this configuration on the SL2-S it will very quickly drain the life out of a battery even when the camera is switched off or asleep. Leaving both of these off significantly improves battery life and if Auto Wakeup is off bluetooth can remain configured ON and not drain the battery when the camera is switched off. Hope this helps others... 5

The battery you need to shoot video, particularly 8k. A much higher current in the same form factor. The quality you expect from Leica. Highly recommended 5
