Hoya Prond Ex Nd Filter (62mm, 6-stop)
- Product Code: ga109471
-
The 6-stop, 62mm ProND EX ND Filter from Hoya reduces the amount of light passing through the lens. When shooting video outdoors, you can set shutter speeds to match your frame rate while maintaining the depth-of-field you want. When shooting moving objects, you can achieve a motion blur that makes the image look more cinematic. For photography applications, the filter lets you use longer exposures or achieve a shallow depth-of-field in bright sunlight.
The ProND EX ND filter uses Hoya's ACCU-ND technology to prevent color shift in order to deliver consistent image quality. ACCU-ND ensures an equal reduction of light in both visible and IR spectrums so that you don't experience color shift when shooting in different outdoor conditions. The filter features 62mm threading on both the front and rear sides. Additional ND filters can be stacked on the front, or you can attach a threaded lens cap or other filter.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Is this a thin filter? What is the thickness of it?
A: Although Hoya does not publish the thickness of the NXT Plus Circular Polarizer, it would not be the thinnest option from Hoya. You may want to look to the Hoya 72mm HD3 Circular Polarizer Filter, BH # HOCPHD372 which is less likely to cause vignetting on wide-angle lenses. https://bhpho.to/3LXhNmp
Q: 2. Is this 46 mm filter compatible with the 800mm PF lens Z Mount?
A: No, the Hoya 46mm NXT Plus Circular Polarizer Filter will not work with the Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S Lens. That lens can only use the Nikon C-PL460 Slip-In Circular Polarizer, BH #NICPL460 (https://bhpho.to/3HdDhfm).
Q: 3. Are you guys an authorized dealer of Hoya? Would their factory warranty be included with the purchase of this filter?
A: Yes, we are an authorized retailer of Hoya products. This filter comes with a manufacturer's warranty, yes.
Q: 4. Please can someone tell me what NXT stands for in Hoya NXT polarizer filters? Thanks for tour kind attention, regardsYves T
A: It does not have any actual meaning. It is simply the designation for the next series of filters that can only be found in the US.
Q: 5. Will this filter fit on my nikon 18mm-55mm AF-S lens?
A: Yes it will. The Nikon 18-55mm lenses use 52mm sized filters.
Q: 6. how many f stops of light transmission are reduced?
A: It has a filter factor of 2 to 4 (1 stop minimum, 2 stop maximum).
Q: 7. Why is this lens more than twice as expensive as "Hoya 67mm HRT Circular Polarizer UV Filter" ? The other one has a UV filter too, while this does not. Is there a difference in quality or something else that I am missing in this lens that makes it so expensive ? Just trying to see which one I should buy for my Nikkor 18-300 mm lens. Thanks.
A: The more expensive filter offers two key features the other does not. Anti-Reflective and Hydrophobic Multicoated
Q: 8. What is the proper technique for attaching the filter to the filter threads on the front of the lens? The filter is very thin, with very little to grip, but is further rendered difficult to screw on by the presence of the rotating section of the filter. Basically you can only hold the rotating part so it is tough to get the threaded portion to turn and screw into the threads on the lens. The rotating part just rotates so you can barely get any torque on the threaded portion. I finally got mine to screw in by pushing firmly toward the lens as I turned the filter. I don't want to damage anything. When using this technique the threaded portion turns slowly because it drags more on the lens threads.
A: Since submitting this question, I had a chance to look closely at the filter with my OptiVisor. It seems there is a very thin knurled ring on the threaded part of the filter just below the rotating part. I will have to practice and see if I can master threading it to the lens without cross threading or otherwise damaging anything. I do have a filter wrench, but the threads are so fine and delicate that it is even more difficult to tell if you are crossthreading. That will take some practice, too. The lens filter threads are inside a metal ring of sorts that prevents full sized fingers from being able to grip that knurled surface enough to be able to turn the ring to thread it in.
Q: 9. Is it normal for a circular polarizer to have movement once attached to the lens?
A: Define movement. It screws on and that should be tight (no movement). The filter itself turns to orient the angle of the polarization (as opposed to a non circular polarizing filter which only really works when shooting in landscape mode)
Q: 10. Does this filter fit a tamron 16-300mm lens?
A: The Tamron 16-300mm lens requires a 67mm filter, so this filter in 49mm will not fit.
