The 46mm Blue IR/NDVI Lens Filter from Kolari Vision works with full spectrum cameras to transmit both blue and IR, making it ideal for NDVI crop analysis applications. It allows an NDVI to be generated from a single image using the blue and red channels of the image. This filter is also useful for landscape photography, as it produces a similar effect to a 590nm IR filter after a channel swap, right out of the camera. This standard version of the filter features uncoated glass and an aluminum ring. (An optional pro version is available that has coated glass and a brass ring.)

A full spectrum modification is required to be made to your camera. This entails manually removing the camera's low-pass filter and replacing it with a clear filter. Once that's done, this filter will work as intended. (Kolari Vision can make the modification for you at a cost if you send in your camera to them.)

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is 46mm the diameter fit for the lens? So this would work on my XF 50mm F2?

A: Yes, it is indeed for the front diameter of the lens and not the focal length. This would be the correct lens cap for the XF 50mm f/2.0 R WR.

Q: 2. What is the difference between these and the extension kit that’s the same price?

A: Close up filters are easy to use, with no loss of light, but lose image quality, do not work well on wide angle lenses and you cannot focus at infinity. Extension tubes work well on wide to normal lenses and there is no lost in image quality. However, they do not work well on telephotos, you lose infinity, you lose light the longer they are, exposure can be trial and error, the build quality of the connection and any electronics can have an effect on usefulness.

Q: 3. Does this filter have a thread pitch of .5mm or .75mm? In other words, will it fit on a black chrome edition 50mm Summilux-M which takes only .75 mm thread pitch filters?

A: This filter will fit the 50mm Summilux.

Q: 4. Can the camera run on a/c power?

A: Yes, the Minolta MN4K20NV UHD 4K IR Night Vision Camcorder (Black) can be powered using the included AC adapter.

Q: 5. What’s the difference between these and the extension kit at the same price?

A: The extension tube attaches between the camera and the lens and it has no optics , this will attach the same way as a filter and it has optics

Q: 6. Does this do still and video in night vision w/color? I know it says IR night vision, but there is nothing else showing specific

A: Videos and photos taken on the Minolta MN260NV Full HD IR Night Vision Camcorder (Red) while in IR Night Vision mode will be in black and white.

Q: 7. Would this work with a fine pix s1000fd?

A: According to their specs it says a 58mm lens cap would fit instead.

Q: 8. Will this fit on my spark 2.0 sweet 50?

A: Being that the Spark 2.0 with the Sweet 50 Optic has a front diameter of 46mm, this Macro Filter Kit is compatible.

Q: 9. Is it double coated?

A: Hi Sorin, These are multi-coated filters!

Q: 10. Just going out on a limb here, but would this fit the 49mm filter thread on the x100F with a filter installed? I understand it's 3mm shy of the right size, but will this click into place and cover the filter. Silly I know, but often a 49mm cap will fit a 52mm filter, just saying.

A: We never have had the opportunity to use a 49mm on a 52mm filter; we must try that sometime. That being said, we recommend a Sensei 49mm Center Pinch Snap-On Lens Cap B&H # SELC49.

I rented a Sony 135mm F 1.8 G M lens to try on my Sony A7R iii. It had a U V filter on it but not a Zeiss. I shot with it for a day. The next week my 135mm Zeiss arrived and i put a Zeiss U V filter on it.And I took some of the same shots again. And yes I could see the difference. Here is one of the shots see what you think. I was impressed. Alfred from Oregon
