The Lectrosonics DSR is a lightweight two-channel digital slot receiver engineered for mobile sound production, sports video, reality TV, and anywhere a wireless system must provide mission-critical signal stability and clear, transparent 24-bit / 48 kHz sound. It is compatible with the company's mono digital transmitters (DBSM, DBu, DHu, DPR, DPR-A) and stereo digital transmitters (DCHT, M2T), and backward compatible with any Digital Hybrid Wireless transmitter.

The DSR provides two independent receiver channels at the highest level of RF and audio performance available—versatile field-proven feature set, selectable AES3 or analog mic-/line-level outputs, and next-generation capabilities in the Unislot/Superslot form factor—for ENG, field, and location production. Settings can be made from the front panel with tactile buttons and a color LCD interface, making the unit ideal for use in portable bag systems, mounted in or on cameras, and on sound carts. The built-in RF spectrum analyzer and SmartTune function help you quickly find a clean frequency to alleviate interference problems in an increasingly congested RF spectrum.

  • The mechanical design of the DSR fits into the Superslot ecosystem and combines field-proven features developed over many years of experience in motion picture and television production. To decrease weight, the DSR packs two channel receivers in one unit powered by external DC.
  • The 2-way IR sync makes quick work of setting up matching transmitters.
  • The machined aluminum housing and panels are surfaced with a hard-anodized finish with laser etched markings to withstand the rigors of field production.

  • The DSR's Vector Diversity subsystem smoothly and continuously combines RF signals from two receiver front ends per channel, with differing phase angles in order to obtain maximum energy. Not only does this method deliver clean, artifact-free performance in all modes, it is actually able to take two signals compromised by multipath interference and reassemble them into a usable signal.
  • The two RF gain stages in the front end of each audio channel provide low-noise RF amplification, excellent sensitivity, and extremely low susceptibility to intermodulation and desensitization.

  • The DSR offers one of the highest Third-Order (IP3) performances at +11 dBm, compared with +5 to +8 dBm provided by typical audio RF receivers. High IP3 performance allows the receiver to better eliminate the negative impact caused by third-order intermodulation artifacts and have a better signal-to-noise ratio, more reliably in today's tough RF environments.

  • SmartTune is the easiest and fastest way to scan the local RF spectrum and find clear operating frequencies. The receiver scans through its tuning bandwidth and automatically finds empty areas within the tuning range that have little or no RF energy. The receiver will then set itself to a frequency within an empty area and prompt you to continue or use the IR function to sync to a transmitter.

  • With a noise floor at -120 dBV and a frequency response up to 20 kHz, high-frequency noise in the source audio is more apparent than in conventional wireless systems. The SmartNR algorithm has three modes. When Off, no noise reduction is performed. When Normal is selected, enough noise reduction is applied to remove most of the hiss from the mic preamp and some of the hiss from lavalier microphones. When Full is selected, enough noise reduction is applied to remove most of the hiss from nearly any signal source of reasonable quality, assuming levels are set correctly at the transmitter.

  • The DSR offers compatibility with the D-Squared and Duet digital transmitters, including the DBu, DHu, DPr, DCHT, DBSM, and M2T.
  • There is backward compatibility with any Digital Hybrid wireless transmitters including the SM and SMWB series, WM, HM Series, MM400 Series, HHSeries, LT, LMb, UM400 Series, and SSM.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the URX-S03D UWP-D work with the older Sony UTX-B03 Bodypack Transmitter?

A: Yes, as long as the receiver and transmitter both operate within the same frequency band.

Q: 2. Is this compatible with the Sony DWT-B01 Digital Wireless transmitters?

A: No, components from Sony's UWP-D line such as the Sony URX-S03D UWP-D Dual-Channel Slot-In Wireless Receiver are not compatible for use with components from Sony's DWX line such as the Sony DWT-B01 Digital Wireless Bodypack Transmitter.

Q: 3. Will the URX-S03D fit into the PXW-X320 XDCAM? if so, do you need a mounting adapter? thx

A: Based on Sony's website, this device should fit right into the PXW-X320's slot without any additional adapters.

Q: 4. How is this receiver different than the DCR822 other than the slot-in size capability?

A: The Lectrosonics DSR Two-Channel Digital Slot Receiver and the Lectrosonics DCR822 Compact Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Receiver are incredibly similar units, and both models are compatible with the same transmitters. The only differences are within secondary characteristics like the type of panel used for the screen (OLED for the DCR822 / IPS for the DSR). Additionally, the DCR822 has onboard recording capabilities via microSDHC and can be powered with AA batteries or DC power. The DSR uses DC power only.

Q: 5. Is this transmitter SuperSlot compatible?

A: No, the Sony URX-S03D UWP-D Dual-Channel Slot-In Wireless Receiver does not use a SuperSlot compatible form factor. The URX-S03D provides a two-channel digital connection to XDCAM camcorders, or a single-channel connection to HDCAM camcorders via a D-sub 15-pin interface.

Q: 6. Can a Sony UTX-P40 Wireless Plug-On Transmitter (UC14: 470 to 542 MHz) be used with this receiver? Or a Sony UTX-B03 Bodypack Transmitter - same freq. channels?

A: Yes, as long as the transmitter and receiver are the same series and same frequency band.

Q: 7. Will this work for both channels in a Sony X400 camera?

A: Hi Tom, Yes. Thanks, Erin

Q: 8. Does this work for both channels in a Sony X400 camera?

A: Hi Tom, Yes. Thanks, Erin

Q: 9. Would this receiver work with a Sennhesier SK500 transmitter in thr Aw+ band (470-558Mhz)?

A: No it would not work with Sennheiser transmitters. It can be used to capture audio when paired with the SONY UTX-B03HR beltpack transmitter & microphone (sold separately)

Q: 10. If used with a the EW-DX EM 4, could use the antennas from the EM 4 by using the RF out of the EM 4 to the RF in on the EM 2?

A: Yes, the RF in of the Sennheiser EW-DX EM 2 DANTE Two-Channel Digital Rackmount Receiver can be connected to the RF out (A and B) of the Sennheiser EW-DX EM 4 DANTE Four-Channel Digital Rackmount Receiver to utilize the 2 x 1/4-Wave Rod Antenna.

Used with Spectrum cable and with digital tv antenna. I did not know that my tv would turn the receiver on and off so when using the Spectrum issued remote it would turn off and back on. Just had to eliminate it from the remote.

Bought this to go with my new Sony 4K smart TV. Set up was pretty easy as the Sony TV and DVD recognized everything including what HDMI port you should be on. Sound quality if pretty good, although I would like more customization. I have cranked it up yet for music of during a 4K DVD but hope it will sound great.

I love it! Incredibly good sound for the price. Always works and is easy to use. Also has a useful set of audio effects. I link it to my computer, both for my online therapy business and to listen to audiobooks and streaming hi-res audio. I've been buying Yamaha receivers for over 40 years and I like this one better.
