  • With 134 dB dynamic range on its input, the tablestand transmitter can easily handle loud and soft voices without requiring any gain adjustment.
  • The EW-DX system utilizes an equidistant tuning grid that equally spaces 3480 frequencies across its wide 87 MHz bandwidth to prevent disruptive intermodulation issues that occur when multiple transmitters operate in confined spaces.
  • The system can be expanded with multiple transmitters and receivers to offer up to 146 channels in equidistant tuning grid mode, and up to 293 channels in Link Density mode.
  • The EW-DX TS 3-PIN is backward-compatible with EW-D receivers.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this plug-in transmitter work with the EW-DX line of receivers? I'd like to replace my EW receivers and SKP2000 transmitte

A: No, the Sennheiser EW-DP SKP Digital Plug-On Wireless Transmitter/Recorder is not compatible for use with the Sennheiser EW-DX series receivers.

Q: 2. Can this be used to replace xlr cable from mixer to speakers? Would the quality of the signal be similar to cable?

A: While the quality is Sennheiser quality and should be as good, bear in mind this system only allows for the transmitter to broadcast the signal to one receiver. Which means if you have more than one speaker, you’ll need a separate wireless set for each speaker.

Q: 3. how many handheld mics can connect to this system at the same time ?

A: The receiver will only connect with one mic at a time.

Q: 4. Does the transmitter provide phantom power for mics like MKH 8050?

A: No. The Sennheiser EW-D SK Digital Wireless Bodypack Transmitter (R4-9: 552 to 607 MHz) will only supply a small amount of power for lavalier and headset microphones. It cannot supply 48V phantom power for larger condenser micrphones.

Q: 5. Can multiple transmitters be paired with a single receiver? Similar to the Sony UWP system.

A: No, the EW-DP EK receiver is single-channel only and only one transmitter can be connected at one time.

Q: 6. Are the XLR variants phantom powered? Do I still need to recharge the receiver?

A: No it cannot. Phantom power wont hurt the unit, but it won't help either. You can however power the wireless via the USB-C via a power supply or via the USB port of your mixing console, if it sports one.

Q: 7. How does it compare to wireless G4 500P?

A: The Sennheiser SKP 500 G4 Pro Wireless Plug-On Transmitter uses analog UHF wireless technology for transmitting audio and has an RF bandwidth of 88 MHz with 3,520 frequencies while the Sennheiser EW-DP SKP Digital Plug-On Wireless Transmitter/Recorder uses digital UHF technology and has an RF bandwidth of 56 MHz with 2, 240 frequencies. The EW-DP SKP also functions as a digital audio recorder.

Q: 8. For sound reinforcement of speech with frequent rough handling from frequent travel, will a SM58 be a better choice than an equivalent Sennheiser mic for use with the XSW-D? If so why, if not which mic would be best and why?

A: The plug-on transmitter can be used with any handheld dynamic microphone, so you can use any mic that you prefer, regardless of the mic's manufacturer.

Q: 9. If I was to build a 4 unit system for panels discussion, how would I identify each mic without it having a display?

A: The Sennheiser EW-D 835-S SET Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone System can be labelled with the Sennheiser EW-D COLOR CODING SET (BH #SEEWDCCS).

Q: 10. Will it work with the Sennheiser EK 500 G4 Pro Wireless Camera-Mount Receiver AW+: (470 to 558 MHz)?

A: The Sennheiser EW-DP SKP Digital Plug-On Wireless Transmitter/Recorder (Q1-6: 470 to 526 MHz) will not work with the EK 500 G4 Pro Wireless Camera-Mount Receiver. However, the Sennheiser SKP 500 G4 Pro Wireless Plug-On Transmitter AW+ (BH # SESKP500G4AW) will work.
