This pack of 14 x 18" Natural White 4-Ply Museum Board from Archival Methods contains 25 boards that are 1/16" thick. The boards are designed for matting, mounting and preservation of fine prints, precious documents, as well as for traditional and digital photography. The 4-ply thickness is ideal for window mats and mat backing for small prints, creates a separation between artwork and glazing, and provides a flat, supportive backing.

The boards are acid and lignin-free and use alkaline or neutral sizing. No brightening agents are used and no yellow cast is present. All boards are buffered with calcium carbonate to ensure that a polluted environment won't cause paper's pH value to decrease with age.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What happened to the Archival Methods Metal Frame Kits? They were the best!!

A: I'm sorry, we stock many varieties of metal frames, but we don't have Archival Methods metal frame kits.

Q: 2. do they come with a protective sleeve?

A: No they are just ready to frame.

Q: 3. Do these frames come with a mat?

A: No. On their product page, they recommend you purchase their Mat and Presentation Kit (ie. BH# AR111481079).

Q: 4. What size is this product 48-019? Title says for 13x19" print, but window says 11.9x17.9 for 12x18" print?

A: 11.9 x 17.9" (30.2 x 45.5 cm) is the window opening. This will allow for a boarder if you are working with 13x19 paper. If you make the print a 12x18 (on a 13x19 paper) the window opening will not take much off the print.

Q: 5. Are the mounting corners included with this product for mounting the prints on the board?

A: Mounting corners are not included. Look for acid-free mounting corners or linen hinging tape--Lineco is a brand I can recommend that is available from B&H.

Q: 6. What size are they exactly? What needs “trimmed”?

A: The index cards are 5" x 7 3/8". These cards are scored at one side and the bottom to be easily trimmed for use in smaller-size boxes. When the cards are trimmed, the size is 4 3/8" X 6 3/8"

Q: 7. Regarding Archival Methods Bright White Pre-Cut Exhibition Mat (18 x 24 for 12 x 18 Print, 5-Pack) B&H # ARPM12181824 MFR # 48-018...I'm purchasing this for a 12x18 image, but I would prefer to have an opening of 11.5 x 17.5...I'm afraid that the actual opening of the board would cut off the corners of the composition that is vital...?

A: I have purchased these mats and have been satisfied. The openings are close to 11.5 x 17.5 . Maybe slightly smaller because of the bevel cut. The one I measured was off by less than 1/8 on either dimension.

Q: 8. Hello, is the backing board made from 100% cotton? Thanks.

A: Yes its 100% cotton.

Q: 9. What is the precise opening size (e.g., 16.5x10.5, or 16x10)?

A: Please disregard-- found it in the specs.

Q: 10. Is there acid in these boards? If there is, how much of a concern is that to the longevity of a photo attached to it? thanks!

A: The Archival Methods Bright White Pre-Cut Exhibition Mat (11 x 14" Board for 8.5 x 11" Print, 5-Pack) is archival material. The mat is made of 100% cotton fiber that is acid- and lignin-free, and incorporates alkaline or neutral sizing, and the linen tape is a pH-neutral water-activated adhesive.
