I love my new 35mm. I went out with it a few weekends ago and had a grand time capturing early Spring blooms up close. Also, can't beat the f1.8! 5

Light, sharp, bright, and affordable. I have nothing to complain for the price. Yes, it's not center to corner sharp at wide open but I never shot wide open and expect corner to be sharp so this doesn't bother me at all. Yes, the auto focus is not silent at photo mode and it's not the fastest prime lens I've used. But if the focus length is relatively close, it finds the face/eye for you quickly for portrait mode. Together with excellent IS, the resulting keep rate is 95%+. Under the video mode, it becomes to silent at the expense of slow focus. It creates a beautiful focus transition for cinematic video shooting. If you shoot a video for an animal, it may struggle to lock the focus on during the video shooting. - it doesn't bother me as I don't use a 35mm for animal action video shooting... It's not weather-sealed but I don't shoot in the rain so it doesn't bother me much. Other than these, it's very sharp, very light, very compact, has very useful Macro capability, F1.8, has IS, and it's only $500... I love it. 5

Absolutely love this lens, a lot of people sleep on this lens. It is super stable especially using it with my R5. It does have a bit of focus breathing sometimes but it’s not a big deal for me. I like the 35mm range and I like that it has macro capabilities although it is not exactly true macro the results are good enough. Overall for price and the results I give this lens 5 stars! 5
