A: That is correct. Quantum currently does not supply a strap with the battery pack. It does have a belt clip built into it. A: One needs to have the battery in the Canon Speedlite EL-1 in order to power it with the Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack for Portable Flashes (US / Canada / Japan Plug). The internal battery is always needed to control the Speedlite. One can then set in the custom setting what power source is used to charge the flash head for firing.
