The Overloud TH-U RockGuy Pack works as standalone software or as a plug-in, offering a complete and realistic software emulation of two legendary guitar processors: the Rockman Sustainor and its Chorus/Delay unit. These sounds delivered the distinctive guitar tones of many '80s and '90s bands like Def Leppard, Boston, and Kiss, as well as artists like Joe Satriani.

  • This version of TH-U RockGuy comes as both standalone software and as a plug-in, meaning that it is a self-contained pack that includes all of the TH-U editing features, including the Rig Player, the Amp Tweaks, the Tuner, and the Looper, with no need to have a preexisting TH-U license.

  • The RockGuy Sustain preamp unit
  • The RockGuy Chorus/Delay unit
  • Seven pedal and rack effects—parametric EQ, rack compressor, plus tremolo, chorus, reverb, delay, and overdrive pedals
  • 26 patches recreating the guitar tone of the most iconic artists using this processor

The RockGuy Sustain combines a dynamic processor with a distortion unit and a cabinet simulator to deliver a unique tone, which cannot be obtained by any other guitar amplifier.

It offers four different voicings and three modifier switches:

  • CLEAN 2 has a very bright tone, perfect for rhythmic parts
  • CLEAN has a tighter high end and more presence on the mids
  • EDGE is a crunch sound with harmonically rich rhythm tones
  • DIST is similar to the Edge with more gain

  • The Chorus/Delay unit combines an analog modulator with a bucket-brigade delay unit, delivering a very distinctive tone. Unlike the real unit where you can use only one effect at a time, in the RockGuy emulation it is possible to enable both the Chorus and the Delay effects in parallel. The stereo widening switches let you create very open tones while keeping the analog vibe of this unit.

A: I have used other Quantum battery packs and this one seems to hold a charge roughly the same as the much larger versions, which should be plenty for just about any situation.

Q: 2. What is the range? can you use it upstairs and connect to the router/modem on the first floor?

A: There are no stated range specifications. These items should have no problem working between floors.

Q: 6. Is the Quantum Turbo SC Battery Pack approved by IATA for air transport?

A: While I do not see IATA approval for specific batteries, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries are allowed both in carry-on baggage in the aircraft cabin and in checked baggage. The batteries must be protected from damage and short circuit or installed in a device. As such, yes, the Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack is compatible for air transport on airline planes, both in carry-on luggage and checked luggage.

Q: 7. I am looking to buy an extra Turbo SC Battery Pack for my Quantum Qflash Model T5D-R Flash Photography Set-up. Before purchasing this item, I want to make sure that it comes with a shoulder strap, so I can hang it off my light stand. When I purchased the Flash Kit set in March of 2012, a should strap was included. But it doesn't look as though it is included anymore. Is that true?

A: That is correct. Quantum currently does not supply a strap with the battery pack. It does have a belt clip built into it. If you regard the Accessories tab on this product link, we do feature two different clamp options which will allow you to connect the battery pack to a stand via its built-in clip, and there is also the option of the strap listed as well.

Q: 10. So I just got my Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack...I bought it to aide my Canon EL-1 speedlite. Was that a mistake? I connected it to the Speedlite and it did not power on the Speedlite... I need to find out if my EL-1 Speedlite also needs to have the battery inside it, too? even though it's connected to a flash Quantum Instruments Turbo SC battery pack? Does anyone know for sue? Thanks

A: One needs to have the battery in the Canon Speedlite EL-1 in order to power it with the Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack for Portable Flashes (US / Canada / Japan Plug). The internal battery is always needed to control the Speedlite. One can then set in the custom setting what power source is used to charge the flash head for firing.

I use this unit to power my SB800, on and off camera when shooting families, portraits, and weddings. Nice and lightweight, doesn't drag my pants down when clipped to my belt. When off camera, I clip this to the lanyard on the pocket wizard, hanging from the umbrella mount. I was looking for something to extend the life to my flash, because I am constantly recharging batteries. This tells me exactly how much charge is left, and I know it will last me through my shoots. Love the fact that there is no memory to the charging of the battery. The battery pack holds a long charge and cycles the flash quickly which is what I was looking for to keep up with the wizards. Very happy to add this to my bag.

I have the Turbo and use it during sporting events. I purchased the Turbo SC and was surprised by its compact size and its reduced weight. I will purchase another if I get a chance. I can still shoot the Turbo SC and Nikon SB-800 for over 400 shots and in 1 1/2 hours its charged and ready to go. No longer do I need to wait over night for the Turbo to charge.
