A: I have used the TS-E 17 for a couple of years. Absolutely love this lens. I however don't want to put anything between my great UD L series glass and the subject. I will admit that I was concerned about the protruding front element at first. However the concerns have faded with use. I usually have the lens cap in place unless I'm taking a shot, but have trekked about in major cities like Chicago and D.C. with the lens ready to go. I do recommend that you cary a good cleaning kit in your bag, and as with all optics keep 'em clean. This lens is absolutely awesome - go shoot and get comfortable with working with such an outstanding piece of glass!

A: I have been using the 17 ts-e for about a year and I have yet to have a problem with vignette with using the lens as is. I have shot mostly commercial buildings... interior and exterior in bright and low lighting conditions and this lens has been excellent. I have this mounted on a full frame Canon 5D II The only time I have experienced any vignetting was when adding the Lee filter system and it was made clear by Lee that I would have a bit of edge vignette with this setup. A: Hi Austin. This is a manual focusing lens. The blink will occur with auto focusing lenses. This lens is intended to be used with a tripod and stopped down a bit (f/8.0) should work. Use the manual focus ring to set the distance. With the aperture stopped down on a 17mm lens just about everything in the frame should be in focus.
