This 50-pack of 17 x 22" Acid-Free Card Stock from Archival Methods is designed to have many uses. The card stock can act as a support, and prevent photographs or documents from bending inside of archival pages or sleeves. Photographs or documents can be mounted onto the stock and used as an album page. The stock can be used as a backing for a photograph inside of a frame. Instead of marking a matted print, you can write on the card stock, for information or easy identification of a print.

The white card stock is made out of alpha-cellulose pulp from purified wood fiber. No dyes, non-bleeding, and no alum were used in the manufacturing process. A lignin- and acid-free stock, it is pH-balanced at 9. Alkaline sizing was used internally and externally on the card stock, which has passed the Photographic Activity Test (PAT), confirming it is suitable for long-term storage. The weight of the card stock is 290 gsm.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this paper pass the ANSI IT9.16 Photographic Activity Test (PAT)?

A: Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not specify whether this item pass the listed test.

Q: 2. how many 5x7 prints could fit in one envelope?

A: 14 fit nicely but you can put more. I only had 14 pieces of 5x7 prints. I personally put only a few per envelop though

Q: 3. it says wt. is: 148 GSM Paper Weight. How many pounds is that (example 65# or 80# ?)

A: According to the manufacturer, the Archival Methods Acid-Free Card Stock (13 x 19", 50-Pack, White) listed above would be considered 196 lb paper, or 290 GSM paper weight.

Q: 4. What weight paper are these envelopes made from? opacity?

A: The Archival Methods Flap Envelope - 9 x 12", 50 Pack (Cream) is a 7pt thick card stock page. They do not specify the opacity.

Q: 5. Is this cardstock printable on both sides?

A: Unfortunately, the Archival Methods Acid-Free Card Stock (11 x 14", 50-Pack, White) is not made to be printed on. It can be used to mount documents and photos. Also to be a backing for a photograph when it is inside a frame.

Q: 6. Will this fit boxes of 17x22 prints? The boxes themselves are nearly 18 x 23". Thank you

A: If your print paper dimensions are no more than 17.25 x 22.25 then yes.

Q: 7. How do you mount a document on this card stock?

A: If you are looking for ways to mount an image to the Archival Methods Acid-Free Card Stock, a few options I would recommend would be either the Pioneer Photo Albums SGS Square Dual Edge Photo Glue Stick (0.7 oz), B&H # PISGS, the Pioneer Photo Albums Photo Memory Fix (Permanent), B&H # PIPMFP, the Pioneer Photo Albums Photo Memory Fix (Removable), B&H # PIPMFR, the Pioneer Photo Albums Photo Mounting Corners (Box of 250, Clear), B&H # PIPC, or the Lineco Self-Adhesive 0.5 Photo Corners (Ivory, Pack of 252), B&H # LIPCPSI.

Q: 8. Title says "Card Stock" but Key Features says "Easy-Folding Paper" I am looking for a card stock to keep photo in sleeve from bending. Which is it?

A: This paper is likely not thick enough for your needs, this is more of a backing paper for albums or portfolios. For single, loose prints in sleeves, you might look for a mat board (such as BH #ARMB4P81PW) that will be significantly thicker and sturdier.

Q: 9. Is this product suitable to mount unframed photos on the wall? Flatness, warping, stability?

A: This product is suitable for mounting unframed photos to a wall. They are generally very stable and remain flat within optimal conditions.

Q: 10. Is 1.4" the thickness of the portfolio? The picture looks much thicker

A: The internal dimension is 1.4".

I had a hard time finding 1/8 inch acid free foamboard. Good old B&H to the rescue.
