Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will this lens work with the Nikon 5200?

A: Yes, it is compatible with the D5200 image sensor (DX) size. Great all-around lens.

Q: 2. Compatible with a D40?

A: Yes, this lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D40 camera. It has the required built-in motor to drive the autofocus.

Q: 3. Will it work with my Nikon D600?

A: According to Tamron lens specs and Nikon camera specs this lens is not compatible with the D600 due to the large (full frame) image sensor. Sorry.

Q: 4. Will this sense work with the Canon EOS Rebel XT?

A: Yes, I use it on our Rebel T2i. And it works like a dream.

Q: 5. Will this lens work with a Canon eos Rebel T5?

A: Yes........... the Canon lens 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD MACRO is functioning with EOS Rebel T5 completely ! !

Q: 6. I'm getting chromatic aberration when I use the Tamron 16-300mm with the new Canon T7i. Is this a problem of compatibility or a defect of the lens?

A: I have this lens and use it with the Canon 70D. There is chromatic aberration, particularly at the longer telephoto. My understanding was the this would not be unusual in a lens with this wide range. I use Lightroom to process my images and Use the Defringe adjustment under Lens Correction to fix it.

Q: 7. Is this lens compatible with a teleconverter? I would be buying for the Canon adapter.

A: If I remember correctly it does not, I sent my lens back as I did not like the feel of it.

Q: 8. Has anyone actually used this lens on a Canon 70D to shoot video and if so, does it work? I have a Tamron 28-300 that will not work for video and I don't want to buy another unless I know it works.

A: I haven't used my Tamron 16-300 VC on my Canon 70D. For video I use the STM lenses.

Q: 9. I currently have a Canon EF-S 18-135mm (f/3.5-5.6) IS STM lens and a Canon EF 70-300mm IS USM lens that I use on my 70D. Q1) Is this Tamron 16-300mm lens as sharp as my 18-135mm lens? If not, where would the difference be most noticeable?Q2) Since the Tamron 16-300mm is designed for APS-C cameras and my EF 70-300 is designed for full-frame cameras, will I get clearer images from the Tamron throughout the 70-300mm range? If not, where would the difference be most noticeable?

A: I have the same camera and lenses you have and I did buy the Tamron 16-300mm too - more for the convenience of traveling with one lens. While I am not super knowledgable (still learning!!), what I did notice is that when I took pictures with my Canon 70-300mm at the 300mm range, then took the exact picture in the exact spot with the Tamron lens, the picture taken with the Tamron lens is NOT as close. There is definitely a difference. As far as clarity, I do not see a differnce, but again, I'm not super knowledgable in being able to pick out the differences. I've had a Tamron lens in the past with a different camera and was very satisfied with the quality as well as the customer service and support when I encountered an issue. I'm keeping all three lenses - absolutely love the convenience of the 16-300mm range on the Tamron when wanting to travel light, but I still fall back to my Canon 18-135mm when taking pictures of the grandkids, and will continue to fall back to my Canon 70-300mm when I know I'm doing longer range shots only.

Q: 10. work with 50D?

A: Yes, this lens is fully compatible with the Canon EOS 50D camera.

I gave this pack 5 stars because its everything as promised. It appears well constructed and padded. I did find it too large and conspicuous to wear on an everyday basis so I returned it.
Regardless, I think its important to fellow Olympus users, to note that the bag fits the entire 150-400 mm plus camera and 1.4x extender, with the hood mounted. No other bag can do this for the price.

I love this backpack made for big lenses. It easily carries a nikon 500mm lens attached to the camera body and shogun mic. So all I have to do it pull it all out of the backpack and turn it on to start recording. And then the lens/camera go easily back into the backpack in just a few seconds.

My only complaint is that I wish it had bigger external pockets to carry more small accessories, but there is plenty of room inside.

Why? because it is the best bang for your buck. I did find it comfortable to wear and carry (some users apparently did not), I have a normal BMI (5'10 with 167 lbs) but do not see how or if a different body BMI would affect how you feel carrying this backpack loaded unless you have trouble with your shoulders - the straps wrap around well, they do not sag sideways. I was able to tuck my Nikon 600F4 VR with camera attached but (of course) collapsing the hood. Only trouble was the foot with the Arca-Swiss plate: it was a bit tight but still fit and was able to zip without excess tension that could damage the zipper. Nice padding at the bottom to protect your front glass and some extra padding you could wrap around (I did not find it necessary). It is lighter and cheaper than the competition. I only got this bag for when going hiking or on the shore with the big prime. The straps and construction are not the best but they still do appear strong and durable- only time will tell. The bag also stands well when loaded on 2 strong plastic feet. The inside and outside pockets come handy. You are limited to the size of tripod to carry, especially if you have a gimbal attached but this was expected. Happy with the purchase, still think is the best despite being cheaper.

Received this from my wife for Christmas 2016. This backpack is the ultimate for Supertelephoto lens carry. I have the Nikon AF-S 400mm 2.8 with lens hoods and Pro Body attached inside with my Gitzo 1548 tripod and Wimberley Gimbal Head attached in the tripod pocket outside. It carries the load well and is surprisingly balanced. The backpack is very well made and all attachments are heavy duty making it very comfortable and stable when wearing. I wouldn't be worried to carry this for several miles if required. There are ample pockets for additional items or a bottle or two of water. It has an included rain fly that is packed in the lumbar area. Great backpack for it's intended use. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a soft pack to carry large lenses.

I carry a Sony body with the Sigma 150-600mm sports lens in the Rugged Alpine 600 Lens Backpack every morning before sunrise into the Salt Marsh Nature Center. The back itself is light but sturdy and holds the body with the lens balanced perfectly. the thick padded shoulder and hip harness secures the backpack to your torso. No lower back pain with this bag. plenty of storage pockets too.

I am a special case. I have a mobility disability and use a rollater (walker with wheels) or canes. I am also 290 lbs. The waist strap just barely reaches but that's on me. I probably wouldn't use it anyway...
I need something to carry downstairs to the car along with a one cane. So the carry options are a terrific thing.
I have a Nikon D7100 with a Tamron 150-600 G2 lens with the hood attached hood in the main part along with a Nikon Df with a Nikon 24-120 G lens on the top shelf. I added a velcro partition (B&H sells them) on the top shelf so my Df doesn't come tumbling out when I have the D7100 out. This is just an added precaution from past boo boo's with other cases..
The Alpine 600 with both cameras, lenses and hoods attached along with batteries and other assessories actually feels lighter and well balanced than any other case or cases I have used. I can take either camera out w/o the other one being a concern. I strap it on my rollater for short hikes. I still use my other small cases when I only want to take one camera but for a two camera day, this is the cat's meow... B*H was terrific from start to finish as usual. Good Deal!

Bag seems very sturdy, holds my Canon 600mm f4L IS (version 1) with a 7Dmkii securely. The Wimberly plate sticks up a bit, but still fits. No complaints, it makes a rather heavy kit easy to transport and carry. Quite happy with the bag.
