Klipsch's proprietary Tractrix geometry in the horn is specifically crafted to efficiently transfer the high frequencies of the tweeter to the listener. This second-generation Tractrix horn is larger for better directivity and a wider overall soundstage. The Tractrix horn can accomplish this level of audio fidelity and smooth frequency response by being combined with a phase plug and a compressed molded silicon face.
Part of Klipsch's Reference line, the LTS (Linear Travel Suspension) works to minimize distortion for more detailed audio reproduction.
The housing of the tweeter in this center-channel speaker clarifies the high-frequency signal by reducing standing waves that would otherwise create unwanted harmonics.
Another signature aspect of Klipsch's Reference Premiere speakers are the Cerametallic woofers. This center speaker is equipped with four 4" woofers, and the Cerametallic construction keeps them lightweight, yet rigid, to both maximize acoustic efficiency and minimize distortion. In the second-generation, voice coils are 70% larger in diameter to ensure flawless reproduction with better power handling, cone control, and linearity. The addition of aluminum shorting rings adds to the improved power handling and lower distortion, while the motor structure itself improves the transit response while adding more control, both faster and with improved accuracy.
The shallow depth of the speaker gives you the option of mounting it in-wall. The shallowness prevents bass-loading against a back wall in tighter spaces, while still projecting clear and easily understandable vocals.
The RP-404C II features audiophile-grade wiring and easily accessible aluminum binding posts for any connection type.
Klipsch uses internally braced furniture-grade MDF for a durable and attractive appearance. The walnut vinyl finish includes satin-painted baffles that have a scratch-resistant coating.
You have the option of exposing the copper-colored woofers or to cover them up with a discrete speaker grille that attaches to the front of the RP-404C II magnetically.
Replacing typical rubber bumpers are cork pads, which work to protect the surfaces of a stand or table.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Is it have enought impedance output for 300 Omhs headphones?
A: To drive higher impedance headphones(such as 300 ohm phones) a amplifier usually needs to produce a higher voltage swing. This is not a case of having "enough impedance for 300 ohm headphones", but of having enough voltage. Having "enough" depends on the sensitivity of the 300 ohm headphones and the voltage output capability of the amplifier, and how loud you prefer to listen. This amplifier can produce a RMS voltage swing of no more than 4.2 volts. That may be enough if you have sensitive headphones (more than 100dB/volt) and listen at safe levels. However, if your phones have low sensitivity(less than 96 dB/volt)and you want to listen at hearing-damaging heavy metal levels, then this amp won't be powerful enough.
Q: 2. Please explain the mono switch. What I'm looking for his a device that will mix the stereo channels into mono and deliver the mono signal to both headphones channels. Can this unit do that?
A: The stereo/mono switch sums the stereo input to mono. In this mode all headsets connected will be fed a mono signal. (Same signal to both left and right).
Q: 3. What exactly does Output Impedance Minimum 10 ?, per channel mean? I'm trying to find out the actual impendance output of this amp and I don't know what they mean by minimum ? Can anyone clear this up for me? Thanks.
A: Don't buy this unit it's a piece of junk it doesn't work.
Q: 4. where is the power switch for the leslie?
A: In back on the bottom where the speed control and everything else is.
Q: 5. What type of finish is on the cabinet?
A: Red Walnut Veneer
Q: 6. Do the satellite speakers have tripod mounts?
A: Yes, the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speaker System, (B&H # KLPROMEDIA21), satellite speakers have a 1/4-20'' tripod female thread at the bottom.
Q: 7. is this unit wireless?
A: The speaker should be connected, i.e. wired, to the center speaker output of your amp
Q: 8. Is this compatible with LM-364C?
A: No, the Leofoto DC-404C Center Column for LN-404C, LM-404C, LM-405C, and LM-402C Tripods is not compatible with the Leofoto LM-364C Summit Series Carbon Fiber Tripod. The correct item would be the DC-364C which we unfortunately do not have currently.
Q: 9. How do you set these up to my 52 inch Samsung
A: A receiver would be needed to power these along with two front speakers.
Q: 10. Is there a power switch? I cannot one anywhere. It seems the only way to power it down is to unplug it.
A: The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speaker System does not have a power switch.
