Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do people with this lens own a wider angle lens or does this suit all your needs for wide angle? Thanks in advance.

A: This lens is also my main lens but it is complemented with wider Sigma 8-16 lens.

Q: 2. I want to adapt this lens to my Sony fs5. Would it make more sense to order the EF mount version and use either the MC-11 or Metabones Mark4? OR.. Order it in the Sony A mount and then use Sony's A to E mount adapter? I believe Sony's native A mount of this lens won't go directly onto the fs5.

A: You will get similar results whether you go Canon EF to Sony E or Sony A to Sony E adaptation. But, it is best to trust the results of the Sony to Sony functionality (eliminating a 3rd party product), so the Sony A mount to E mount adapter is recommended for the FS5.

Q: 3. is the autofocusing problem is something to consider? and does it happen quite often?

A: The auto focusing problem is definitely to be considered. My lens has gone back to Sigma twice for repairs in the first six month since I got it. Mind that this is the second lens, the first one B&H replaced right away after I noticed a different focusing problem. Now it works fine, but not for more than 2 hours. after that it gets tired and stops focusing. Sorry, but I don't think I'll buy another lens from Sigma. On the other hand, B&H has been great, as always, with their customer service.

Q: 4. Dear sir,Please let me know whether this lens is compatible with the canon cameras. if yes which models of the canon camera series is it compatible with?

A: The lens listed here, Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens for Sigma B&H # SI183518DCS MFR # 210-110 is not compatible with any Canon camera. The Canon mount version of this lens listed below is compatible with all of Canon's cameras with an APC-S sensor. Canon cameras with a full frame sensor are not compatible.

Q: 5. Will this lens (nikon mount) work with an nf speedbooster to mft? I wanna use it with my z cam e2

A: Yes, it will work.

Q: 6. Will this lens work with the Sony LAEA4 adaptor - a mount to e mount?

A: It's working with Laea 2 perfectly on my nex7 (only thing is I thought the auto focus will b faster)No reason for it not to work with Laea 4

Q: 7. Is this a good portrait lens? I mainly shoot newborns

A: Hi RachaelFirst off, this is an extremely good lens, I have had fantastic shots, low light levels, night, Bokeh effects, etc. It is NOT for a full frame camera. It is also wide angle and you would have to be close for baby photography. I would recommend you check distance you would like to shoot from and deicide if that works for you. The 35mm translates to roughly 50mm on the old 35mm cameras. Hope this information helps.

Q: 8. Would this lens work with Sony a6000? If an adapter is required, would it lose any functionality with adapter?

A: Dean, I am using this lens on Pentax K-mount - Sigma A lens are great - Sony A6000 is E-mount - Look to need A-mount adapter. I found info on adapter LAEA2 for APS-C. It sound positif that you keep full functionalities. From my experience with adapters, the best test is to try it. I hope you will get a reply from someone who used SONY adapters. Best regards and good luck.

Q: 9. Will this lens work with a Canon 5D mark ii?

A: Unfortunately, this lens is not compatible with Canon full frame cameras like the 5D Mark II. It is only compatible with Canon APS-C cameras such as the 70D.

Q: 10. will this lens work with Canon EOS C100?

A: I have both C100 Mk 1 and Mk 2 and just recently had the sensor updated on the Mk1. I put this lens on the updated sensor of the Mk1 and wow just amazing!

This lens is so dang sharp I can't use anything else because it looks disappointing in comparison. No distortion and looks amazing wide open that I hardly shoot anything lower. A perfect range that I never need to swap it out because it's so versatile.

I use this lens daily for my work as a video producer. After watching dozens of reviews, demos etc. I decided to add the Sigma 18-35mm to the arsenal. This is my go-to lens when filming indoors. This lens performs very well under low-light capturing sharp, crisp footage consistently. The build quality is exceptional. The first thing you notice when you unbox this product is how sturdy and heavy the lens is. I would highly recommend this lens to anyone looking for a versatile lens that will allow them to really get the most bang for their buck.

I use this on GH4 paired with Metabones. It works like champ when you turn focus peaking on. The only thing I wish Sigma could improve is the focal length. I know I know. Im just greedy. But I wouldn't hesitate to buy 18-55 f1.8 if Sigma is pushing the Art series to the limit. ;)

Great build quality, a little heavy but manageable, quick focus, and sharp images! Love this lens!

This lens has quickly become a main lens staying on my camera most of the time. Or it is the lens I grab first from my bag. It is a bit heavy but on a sizable body like an 80D or 7DMII its a good balance. Incredibly sharp and fast focusing. I consistently get great images from this lens. If you mainly shoot at wider angles this should be a must have lens for you.

I ordered this lens to use with my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera and a Metabones Speed Booster. Although I'm yet to use the package in real life shooting situations, I did some extensive tests and the results were amazing. I confirm that this is probably one of the best zoom lenses for that particular camera. It performs specially well in low light conditions because of the lens high aperture and the extra f boost by the speed booster. The lens is big and heavy though and I would prefer a wider range on the focus ring to control focus. Also, for this particular combo, you will probably need some other lens to go really wide and something else to go closer. It's really a medium range zoom in that particular configuration.

Great lens with excellent image quality! The only downside is that this lens is on the heavy side.

I needed a fast zoom in this range for run & gun style doc shooting with my Red Scarlet. This is an awesome lens, sharp, nice color easy to use. Only thing I can say is I with the focus had hard stops.

What a lens, I'm using on my Sony FS100 which is already superior for low light video and with this attached it is a true game changer. This lens really got me back on board with third party lenses, owned Sigma lenses in the past and the performance was always good but never this good and the fact that no one else offers a zoom lens of this speed is truly unprecedented. I don't have a single complaint about this lens other than not being available in e mount. I really look forward to trying it out on a Sony A77ii which this lens makes me want to buy. In camera stabilization with a f/1.8 zoom lens? Yes please.
